With various people taking their cars off the road like StormBleeder I\'m jsut wondering what everyone is planning to do over the winter ready for next year? Just an idle "I\'m bored at work" type question ;)
For me it\'s:
Rebuild
Street port (hopefully)
New exhaust system from SMB (on order now)
New radiator
New clutch and flywheel while the engine is out (hopefully)
New motor mounts
New vacuum and coolant pipes/hoses
Fit PFC finally and get a tune after the engine is run in
Replace the plastic intercooler piping with some hard pipes
New suspension bushes (has to be done, at least one is cracking)
Once on the road a full laser alignment
Think that\'s it and all funds dependent :)
mine is to drive very slowly as it is my daily driver and i dont have the option to take it off the road

I suspect there will be some other little jobs as well!

Well i was going to put a stereo in it, but cant be bothered now as i just got an ipod, and i can carry that around eveywhere.
Might have to get round to fixing the bent drivers door as it leaks a little when it rains and the drivers seat gets wet, which is not nice. :(
Also got a load of rust round one of the rear arches so might just touch that up with a bit of white Hammerite :D
Did get some new shocks for the rear the other week. Really dont like spending money on it but couldn\'t moan to much as they were only £32 a pair :D
Adam - Loving his Escort!
P.s. Hate not having an FD to care about. :(
Continue with my rebuild ready for next years events and meetings, its now been waiting 9 months:
Engine:
Complete set of new plates, street ported, should be here this week, please Tim.
HKS downpipe
Dragon silenced midpipe
Dragon rear box?
Boost controller
HKS racing suction filters
uprated intercooler
Bigger injectors?
Uprated fuel pump

Extra ducting grafted into in the front bumper

My plans for this winter??? Why, do a bit of ice skating, Rex style of course...:rollin
wastegate modified,additional injectors,wmi and remap
First thing is to ‘tidy’ the car up – there are a few small cracks on one rear spat, a side skirt and the front bumper which need repairing and painting.
Re-con the wheels
New kick plates
Re-spray the silver part of the dash
R-magic commander holder
Polish various engine bits
Try and find some rear storage buckets
And depending on how quick I can build my funds a nice big V mount
I would have liked to do more but after the rebuilt I’m gonna be looking at an empty wallet :(
Well having most of my winter work being done right now by Reworx
BrapBrapBrap porting
Mazdaspeed PPF fitting
Launch Kit fitting
Ali Rad fitting
AI being fitted by me in November then mapping to 1.4-1.5 BAR
I am selling mine, thats my plan :(
Been there, done it. Gutting!! :(:(:(
Adam
1.18" alloys
2.Eibach spring and bilstein shock (bit softer than the jap racing stuff thats on it)
3.new momo steering wheel / gear knob / handbrake
4.FMIC
5.try work out what apexi commander i need and where to get it
6.Get some rear seatbelts
7.Fit my stereo gear
8.Get a rear bumper, c-west maybe
9.some aero mirrors
10.Brembo calipers all round
11.Source another recaro seat for passenger side
Then the usual full service probably renew the leads etc too, and finish undersealing it (still got the arches to do) then after winter a respray in some sort of black pearl colour.
Should have most of this done in the next month or so.
Probably be easier to say the bits I dont want to do.
Basically hoping to give the motor a complete overhaul (was going to say makeover but that sounded girly!), with more of a track emphasis I think, also have a couple of \'experimental\' type things to try.
Looks like we may be moving house though as an interesting oppurtunity has come up, will leave me better off but not straight away so may have to wait till next winter, or possibly a \'finger out\' spring job.
lots for me :
extended street port (maybe peripheral port of total track monster)
My own cusom spec Garrett T04Z, custom tubular manifolds and down pipe
New larger waste gate
Ignition Amp of some sort poss HKS
850 primarys, 1600 secondarys 550 additionals with HKS controller
twin pump 044 fuel system, swirl pot and new fuel lines
New Greddy bosst controller
Continue to sprip down the car loose the Air con etc, loose all unnessessary wiring
Total body work change light weight parts where possible i.e. front rear arches/wings, boot lid and glass....
hopefully all will be done for the Time attack next year well thats the goal anyway :D
I also drive mine daily.... but will hopefully be getting a run around soon so i can give her and my bank account a well earned rest!
Not sure of my plans i cannot make up my mind as may be selling after xmas! :(
Ooo.. 1 to add - Fit my porsche callipers if they dont sell and i find some more money!
Mine:
MOT :)
99 Front End
PFC
18" Wheels
OEM Sideskirts
Other than that I\'ll be saving the rebuild fund. She\'s not showing any signs of needing one but you never know :)

Exactly why I\'m doing mine :) Past 65k miles now and still going but I\'d rather do a rebuild before attempting any more power.
My plan is simple mods.....
1) Custom headlight conversion so I can see where I\'m going during the winter!!
2) build a custom front bumper (& sell a few if anyone is interested?) (http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d192/jonathandudley/Bumper.jpg)
3) repair the rear wing
4) Respray
5) If poss, construct a V-mount with the IC I\'ve just bought!!
Jono
I plan to get to the bottom of my ongoing (6 months now) intermittant boost problem and then to drive carefully!
custom headlights? I want HID\'s too if anyone has any ideas as I can barely see where I am going at night!
Nice bumper Jono! Won\'t those A-spec lights be a bugger to source though? I think it would look lovely with the 99 spec ones in.
My plan is to keep saving for next winters project. It\'s called \'Project 20k\' for a reason... :)
Glad to see lots of cash being spent on our cars!!:Thumbs-up
Got the new Gram Light bumper to fit.
Vent two standard bonnets.
Re spray those parts(that\'ll please the spray shop!! NOT!!!)
Get a 1600 fuel rail fitted or add two more injecters into plenum.
Remap and dyno.
Choose and fit a set of coil overs.
Fit a line lock.
Buy some MT\'S for next seasons drag events.
Looking at some of the above spec lists that people are doing this winter thats a sh!tload of cash being thrown into the rotorpot!
I know not FD..but A) or B)....
This winter, my rx7 will mainly be.......... rusting.
(Unless someone buys it that is :D )
All plans gone to pot, spending every last penny on house purchase.
FD: Cleaning, servicing and hopefully getting the blowing turbo gasket sorted...
FB: Engine mounted, body work finished (to primer), and *most* wiring done.
finish off building the fd for the 07 season
I shall be getting these bits sprayed and then fit them myself:
Vented bonnet
99 spec rear wing
New set of tyres.
Shall be keeping mine out of the wet/rainy conditions plus away from the \'Christmas Shopper\' drivers !!!!!!!
Oooo well shall i begin lol, i`ll spent ma whole winter in the garage lol, anyone selling a descent heater :3Confused
Here goes..
Remove engine, clean re-paint, polish the whole thing with uprated hoses all round. then rebuild :P
Respary all the body kit,
Blend in rear diffuser to rear bumper
Fit vents into front wings and respray.
Re-ad9 Bonnet to buy n fit hopefully lol..
Custom ice install to be made in the boot..
New front seats, possibly remove the rears..
Custom made front vents gauge pop to build.
Rebuilt door cards with added speakers
Thats whats planned and if the funds are ok then new parts a be:
Alloy radiator
Alloy ast
Remove the whole aircon system
Front or vmount Intercooler
Oil catch can...
thinks thats it lol.. guna be a busy bee this winter.. lol :wave
Actually you reminded me I need to dig out an electric heater or 2 to put in the garage :)
Going to try and get a couple of custom made parts...i.e. TB elbow that is 45o in preparation for making a nice straight line to the vmount that i\'ll get eventually. And also the plastic pipe that goes from the y-pipe towards the intercooler...try and get a solid pipe here.
A true man\'s retreat of a garage would have a big wood burning stove in the corner...hmmmm
Adam, you had me going thinking you had sold me a leaking car
Is it all ok then mate?
Adam
Building up for time attack 2007!
Will still take the car out for runs in the snow, lots of drifting without tire wear lol! Just make sure I give the car a complete wash afterwards to rid it of nasty salt!!
Not crashing! :P

Not sure what to do with the lights as yet Dan dan.... might just bin them all to egther ad stick everything in the headlight conversion???
If not I\'ll make a mould and heat perspex to form the carrect shape.... it\'s not too hard, just got ot get the temp correct!!! Gonna try it in the old dears oven (gonna keep that bit quiet though!!!):yes
Jono

I meant the driver\'s door...the engine is still leaking at the moment...fingers still crossed.
Otherwise my winter plans may be a rebuild :flamed
Drivers door! You sure its shut properly? :p
Adam

No, your door. I thought you were writing about your FD :o
:rollin :rollin :rollin
Sorry mate. got myself all confused then :D yeh its not hard, before you say it!
Adam
Will be having the car off the road for the 4th winter in a row. Will be finishing the shell prep for Time Attack next season. Will also be assessing sponsorship.
John
Where/when is the Time Attack, keep hearing everyone talking about it but dont know anything about it?
Is it an open to all or an invite only type thing
Open to companies and clubs. This season was damn expensive though!! I hope they lower the fees next year.
John
After the Motec is fitted next week.
Make my mind up to either fit a twin fan elongated rad for my charge cooler which wil double my charge cooler air cooling of it\'s water
or
change to a RE:WORX V-Mount Kit.
This winter @ RE:WORX, hook up the launch control and traction control, drop the plenum, re-locate the injectors, 4" exhaust and up the boost.
I WANT 500BHP @ THE REAR WHEELS high boost. 400 low boost.
Sell off good bits that I will no longer need.
side skirts, clear front lights & general tidy up.
Also gotta finish paying for the thing then ill have some cash to get busy with it
My aim this winter is to stop spending soooo much freckin\' money on my car! :rollin
drive it and try not to smash it lol
This winter I\'m planning on replacing the bushes, installing a cold air feed, getting the carbon bonnet fitted and possibly some gauges installed if I can find a pod that I like.
Barry
Well its my first winter with a rx7, so I intend to keep it off the road and do as much servicing on it as possible. I want to try and do most of it myself and will include oil and filter, plugs, fuel and air filter, brake, clutch and gearbox fluid and brake disks and pads. Then I want to get all the pipes in the engine bay replaced and maybe a full respray towards spring time.
Lookin forward to it to be honest cos I have never attempted anything on my other cars, but owning an RX7 is just different.
What do you get if you cross a Scooby with an FD?????...............................A beautiful looking sports car that you can drive safely all winter..:)
i plan to mostly be driving sideways!!!!!!!!
as well as tidy up all those little annoying bits and bobs that i never seem to get round to finishing. get rid of a couple of dents and hopefully save enough to bung on a new front bumper, sideskirts. oh yer i really need better breaks to.
What do you get if you cross a Scooby with an FD?????.................. a shockingly ugly car that handles like Bambi on ice.....:bandit
to dream of getting my nice new 3 rotor back and fully complete for next year.
I have driven it about 500 miles in the last 2 years ( how sad is that) :o
Quote from: AdriansturgessWhat do you get if you cross a Scooby with an FD?????.................. a shockingly ugly car that handles like Bambi on ice.....:bandit
:rollin nice one
to finish my fc drag car
fit fuel tank in boot, fit 2 fuel pumps with braided hoses, fit custom inlet runners with injectors bosses welded in correct possition, make custom turbo manifold for t45 with longer pipes bringing the turbo up and more forward in the engine bay, wire up microtech ltx8 with new bosh coils wired up to 90mm throttle body somehow:confused:
fit custom fuel rais across injectors when they are in position, fit pipng from turbo to ice to air intercooler from pwr.
then its time to run and see if it works:eek
hopefully test the car out with std box and diff to see how the motor runs and then do second part of the project if no success with getting the power down or snapping diffs and transmition.
shortened 9" diff to fit on a custom swingin sub frame with 2 adjustable shocks and springs hooked up a yanke powerglide 2 speed box with transmition break, this lots sat in the back of my garage gathering mold at the moment!
anyone wanna help :Thumbsup!
some pics of my bridges and inlets opened up and inlet runners and plenum these are now shortened and welded on a flange matched up to inlet ports at there new size!
and t45 roller bearing turbo
Ahh , now that would be telling!!!:Thumbsup!
Sooooooo... is everything going to plan?
So far I\'ve done sweet f. all! Car is all ready for its MOT tomorrow, and after a quick call to Pip earlier, she\'ll be going for a remap in March. :D So I\'ve got til then to pull my finger out and get everything done!
We need updates people :D

I spent too much money on booze and silly things like massive tv\'s over winter so my plans are now "pre summer" plans.
well i dont think i told anyone my plans, but it was to rebuild the engine, spray the engine bay a decent colour, do a gearbox swap.
so far, ive got the gearbox swap done.
Engine bay is sprayed
and engine will be built when im back from holiday so not too bad progress!
Well I decided to buy an engine with 30k on it from Ross....where is it Ross? That way leaves the current one for a rebuild over time with some nice porting and stuff :)
Car is currently not starting but going to warm the plugs and give it a go tomorrow, if not then the oil is going to be rather thick but I\'m still taking it apart :) Have the following to go on:
Viton hose kit
Full set of powerflex bushes
New ignition leads and plugs
Alu oil filler neck
New Noltec poly engine mounts
Grounding kit
Full SMB exhaust
