Title: FMIC and A/C
Post by: Ed_RX7 on November 28, 2003, 11:50:42 AM
Has anybody managed to fit a Trust FMIC and keep the A/C.

Without running high water temps?

If so Fill me in!!!!!:p

You can keep the air con but it is more complicated, I have seen lower water temps after removing the a/c on various cars with different setups.
I personally think it is better to keep the engine cool rather than me for a couple months of the year!

Depends on what other mods you have...

I was running the greddy/trust FMIC on mine.  Which was running 315bhp.  It has the ac still on.  Ran ok.  Thats with standard twins.  I guess if you were running more then you may need to loose it to get the temp down.....though i may be talking rubbish as usual  :)

Cheers

315 at FW Adam, yeah?

I was running I\'d guess 280-290 may be atw on my car, cant say I noticed much difference post-A/C removal though.

I\'m with JD either way though, I\'d rather get sweaty a couple of days a year and save the clutter and whatever cooling issues it may or may not be responsible for...

I assume at the flywheel... Mark, who bought the car off me had it on the rollers.

I guess it all depends on what you want from the car....each to their own.  Some may want the aircon, some don\'t mind being without....  Like you, on my new FD i will be taking it out.

You could mount it horizontally under the rad/front mount, this way you won\'t restrict the airflow and the ac will still work, just a thought.

Don\'t know if this helps but when thrashing the the single turbo for atleast 30 minutes of ahrd driving the highest water temps I saw was 85. I have greddy triple core with custom endtanks and piping and no a/c which I thought was pretty good. Don\'t know about sitting in London traffic though.
