Title: Exhaust Selection NEED HELP!!!
Post by: japjim on October 16, 2006, 10:49:53 AM
hello,

at the moment i am looking for an aftermarket exhaust but can honestly say i dont know where to look or what to look at,

all i can say is that i dont want to have bleeding ears after twenty mins of driving at 40mph, like some stupid after market exhausts you hear.

and plus this is my daily drive and with the job i am in at the moment i dont think my neighbours would be to pleased with me as i either leave for work at around 6:30 am or return home from work at 7:15am depending on wether im working earlys or lates.

any help would be much appriciated.

Racing Beat backboxes are reasonably quiet,( though if your midpipe is unsilenced, any of them will sound loud!)

The re-amemiya Dolphin is also fairly quiet, at least with a silenced mid-pipe it is, what mid pipe are you running ?

Get a feed silenced mid pipe from RE:Worx 02392 698100 and a Racing beat cat back from Racing beat - Rotechnics in reading sell them new. The other quiet system is a Fujitsubo - if you can find one or an RE-A super dolphin.

Cheers, Ant.

Oh and stay clear from HKS drag systems or Blitz if you want to preserve your hearing. I use a feed mid box I got from RE:Worx and a Blitz cat back, the Blitz is ok as long as you are prepared to repack the silencer every few months but can be ridiculously loud.

Exactly what i\'ve done in the past!!..and it IS fine for every day driving
BTW, if you do this, you will prob. have to remap via Apexi as different exhaust backpressures...i think....:Giggle

Robertio was organising a Group Buy on fduk for the SMB systems.... Probably the quietest system I have heard on on an FD.... and capable of flowing over 400 bhp....
Failing that I am with ant... you could do far worse than the Feed mid-pipe and the Racingbeat cat-back... thats what I run.

What happened to the nur spec catback you had? I remember it being pretty loud indeed:mmmm  My Kakimoto isn\'t exactly quiet at WOT either. And I still have my cat under the car (the pipe, that is ;) )

No I always had the kakimoto mate, not sure if I was running a mid pipe when we had the Harwich mini-meet though :)

I was getting a little fed up with the noise at idle, as I work shifts I have to take neighbours into account too really so might look into a silenced mid pipe, not that I drive it to work that often as I would spend all my wages on petrol :D

Ive got the re-amemiya dolphin on mine and that is very quiet even on WOT but gives a nice burble sound on tickover, it\'s all stainless steel unlike the racing beat which is steel.
