What exactly is it doing? is there any Smoke? Did it just stop one day or did it drop off over time?

I had this with mine.  Can you hear it spooling but just aren\'t getting any boost?  It turned out on mine that the charge control solenoid wasn\'t working so the charge control valve was open all of the time.

The second turbo will not work unless you make at least 7 psi on the first turbo.

Yup, ^ that\'s true. So if the first aint working, it\'s guarenteed that the second aint working. If you\'re getting boost later on, it\'ll probably be the first turbo actually boosting.

If it\'s a charge control value problem like mine the second turbo will probably work.  You\'ll start to get boost (not very strong though) at about 3,500rpm when the pre-spool for the second turbo kicks in.

you are lifesaver i will try an track down parts etc until then but that is definately what i need, some trial and error time.

do you have any idea where i can get a charge control solednoid or whether i can just get to/check mine in the meantime?

situation improved after i got the check valve from you, but still got same problem essentialy,

cheers bro

With mine it just turned into a huge process of elimination, checking pipes hoses etc.  Then watching to see when the ignition was turned if the charge control valve was shutting all the way which it wasn\'t.  After deciding that the hoses were fine etc. we checked the solenoids to see if they worked and then changed out the charge control solenoid after working out which one it was.  I say we but Wav did most (read all) of this on mine as he is a lot more knowledgeable than me about the exact workings of the turbo control systems.

i might have to take another trip up to harrow to seek one2watch\'s help with it, basically i am almost sure the problem lies with either Air bypass Valves or Charge Control Somewhere but i cant see from the coloured diagram at autosport where exactly they are located and i havent had time to hunt, only option is to work in the dark with a worklight so i wanted to know beforehand.

my main problem is that i dont have any parts to swap over and i dont know how to test what i have!

I AM GOING INSANE. sorry to sound crazy but basically i need the car day to day and it is doing about 3-5 mpg or something ridiculous and i cant find anybody near me that can help.

i will try and get up to harrow on saturday if possibl ebut a lack of time coupled with the fact that i need to take my car apart and then back together to get home and the lack of parts or where to source them, i am really sobbing now.

i know there is a cooling problem perhaps with fans/relays so i\'m afraid of long journeys + i need to get the boost issue sorted.

i have no idea as to what to do + cant get to or afford a specialist!

mine does this, finally tracked it down to a faulty one way valve but havent had the time to replace it at the mo. Check those, it\'s easy if you have a mityvac (it\'s a pump thingie) or by blowing and sucking the valve (ooh eer!) to see if they let air through both ways ot just one! Hope that helps bud?!

Cheers bud :Thumbs-up

actually tracked my boost problem down to a small 2 INCH GASH down the side of the lower intercooler pipe - but all is not completely well i suspect, boost etc is not completely consistant.

also along my journeys i went to see dom(Trex) to get a pipe and after stopping to get fuel noticed a cloud/jet of steam coming from behind the plenum! luckily it had boiled after pulling in so i hadnt lost coolant etc along the way and the buzzer hadnt activated.

im sure this was a relay/thermostat problem. more relay i think but one2watch (jit) who was with me, bypassed it. so it is on all the time.....

i want to check the valves but... 1) i can barely get them off because the pipes begin to crack if i try so i will probably try heating them if i do. i have been told to get some help with plenun removal etc which would be ok if i lived within miles of anyone with an Rex

2) all the parts - vacuume tester, check vales etc. are all miles away an hour at the least.

:(

although its boosting and cooling the way it should at the moment i have literally become terrified of it... i love it and at times remember why i bought it but it seems as though owning a rex means for every 2 journeys theres a day under the bonnet and any part whatever it may be its either a few weeks from the states or samco or few hours drive...

SOMEONE PLEASE SLAP ME AND REMIND ME WHY I SHOULD HAVE ONE...

feel depressed with it at the moment even though its ok.

perhaps its because i dont know enough of you guys or just because i need give up.

i wanted a supra but i have inadvertantly bought a car/phenomenon which although i adore, it seems too much - every time i drive i\'m worried about using any of its power - i ask myself ; will it overheat... will i ruin the compression or stress it too much and bring on rebuild time? equivelent cars although lack the qualities of a beautiful rex hold a key part which is a good strong block and seems as though they are bulletproof 600-1600hp sups going strong whereas my 280hp rex seems only to bring issues?

:2Rolleyes  what do i do?
