I have just brought a 12" sub for my little ford fiesta i have an amp and all the correct wires i jus need to know how to wire it up any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks,
Luke
Is the sub a single coil or dual coil sub. Does it have a set of connectors on one side or both sides of the sub ?
If its one side then you just wire them the same was as any speaker. You need to make sure that anything over 100hz is filtered out of the signal so your not supplying signals that are out of the range of the sub. This may be controlled by the headunit or the amp.
Its a dual coil you have two choices really. It all depends on what the amp can handle in ohms. The lower the figure the greater the load on the amp and the more it can run. If the sub is a dual 4 ohm coil then if you run it in parrellel (where each coil is wired seperatly back to the same channels on the amp) and you will be loading the amp to 2 ohms. If you run them in series where you have the connections follow through the amp, where 1 coils positive is connected to the amp. The other coils negative is connected to the amps negative and the other 2 coil connectors are joined together !
Phew !!!!!

Plus make sure the amp is strong enough for the sub, if you find that the base is breaking down then you could be clipping the signal from underpower and you could burn the subs coil killing it and voiding the warrenty.
