Title: de-catted dawnpipe recomendations
Post by: michaelb on October 15, 2006, 05:17:02 PM
Hi All

I will be getting my Apexi PFC and commander pretty soon (7 / 8 weeks) from one of the members over here.  I want it now but just had a big expense with a rad replacement.  I will be looking to de-cut my exhaust system in due course but, I will need a down pipe (new or second hand) with a”resonance box” or silenced (if that is same terminology)
The car is already pretty laud with a bore HKS back box.

I will be getting this done at reworks (including my first map) I know reworks do a de-catted silenced mid pipe…
Do you have any recommendations?  What do you use? The car will be for occasional drag activities but more for the fun of it as it is my daily driver…

Regards,
Michaelb

If your rex is an import then there should only be a cat on the midpipe. If it\'s a uk model then you may have a precat on your downpipe as well as a cat on your midpipe.

Hope this helps.

Hi

Thanks for that.  That clarifies it.  I have a 96 Bathurst (jap import) so I guess I need a de-catted midpipe but with some kind of silence or box..

Regards,
Michaelb

If you want some advise, Buy a 3" Down pipe and a Silenced Mid Pipe.

The Stock Down pipe is Restrictive.

But if you want to Keep the Down pipe and just want to remove the cat and fit a 2.5" Silenced mid pipe i have one thats not doing anything but as i say you would be best getting a 3" Down pipe/Mid Pipe set up.

OK

What do you have (make) and how much do you want for it?

Its a KSP 2.5" Stainless Steel Silenced Mid pipe. I would take £50 for it Plus postage (I would have to check how much that is)

I have a Pic but its too big (i\'m not sure how too down size it) So if your Intrested Give me your E-mail or PM me and i\'ll send it you.

Well it came off a 95 R2. I think all the import exhausts the same.

I better ask reworks chaps, just in case....by the way, are you in a major hurry to sell it? How old is the pipe and in what condition is it? What make is KSP, what does it stand for?

Regards,

TBH i am not sure how old it is becouse i bought it second hand but never used it.

Its in Good condition, its just sat in the Garage doing nothing i bought it for a car that i decided to sell before it got fitted, then when i bought another FD that already had a Decat on so it was not needed.

As i say though, The stock Down pipe is Restrictive you would be best buying a 3" DP and MP but if you want a Cheaper option then this is it becouse i don\'t think a 3" MP will fit a stock DP?

KSP is just a make i\'m not sure what it stands for but it looks well made.

I\'m in no rush to sell it. Just PM me if you decided you want it.

It should fit - It looks the same as the WGT scilenced midpipe - which is also good. :)

Grizzley
OK
I might get your mid pipe later on….I will be getting my Apexi PFC in the next 7 weeks.  If I have any money left I will get your MP and have the car mapped by reworks.  I believe I should be able to get 50 – 60 BHP more, right ?

Can I let you know later if I want it? Say 7 weeks..

Ricco 04
Thanks for that.  I hope it fits.  I will give reworks a call before I buy it from Grizzley…

Dragon do a silenced mid pipe for £130 – I do not see a point in getting a new one if they are all Stainless Steel…not much can go wrong I think…

Is a silenced mid pipe the same as a mid pipe with a resonance box?
