Title: charge coolers
Post by: barry798 on October 04, 2006, 07:26:24 PM
dont no if any body might be interested but getting a charge cooler made up by pace if all goes well,
it will be the same as the standard cooler on the car but will be 90mm longer on the right end so battery will have to be removed from the front of the car the best bit hopfully all standard pipe work will connect,so it will be like a direct replacment
dont now how to put pictures on but can send you a idea of whot it will be like

Might be worth doing a little search on this, there is a thread currently knocking about on this subject.

How much pressure drop do you normally get on charge coolers, is it much better than the standard IC (which I think is about 0.3 bar inc all the pipework)

Keep the pipe run to a minimum and it is just about zero, if you are running to the front and back again you will see some pressure drop not sure how much though.
In my exhaustive efforts to find the right type of intercooler for the yellow one, I visited Pace and went through their options, at that time they did not have what I was looking for and in the end I went with PWR, there was very little difference in price as well [this was over 3 years ago mind.]
I would be asking Pace how much air you can shift through it bearing in mind the amount you need for these engines oh and what sort of pressure drop you will see.
The good thing about PWR is it\'s proven to work on FD\'s running 400+ atw

hi spock to mike at pace and he has not done a charge cooler for the rx7 that he remembers i have to send my one off so he can copy it but the new one will be longer
only resern im trying this is to save mony on all the other pipe work
he did say just the charge cooler on its own would be around £300-£500
will ask him about the flow and how much air you can shift through it when i phone him next but hi might have to see my cooler 1st

He had a look over mine when I was investigating, never made it though, one word of warning dont try and mod your rex on the cheap you\'ll end up spending more money putting it right.

lol John mine makes a touch more than that at 0.9bar.

I have the charge cooler that pace supplied and I\'m sure the owner would quite happily sell it, Due to personal reasons (baby) he had to abandon the project, I know he spent quite a bit on it. PM  If you are interested and I will forward your details. charge cooling is something where you pay your money you get your result. As a rule you get what you pay for if it costs £1500 then it probably will be a bloody good cooler with very little pressure drop, when you are looking for monster power this is very important.

Geff

If your wanting to save on money have you thought about dealing direct with PWR in Aust ? sterling is quite strong at the moment even after paying shipping/ tax etc could still work out quite cheaper for you

heres the link anyway
