now i have your attention i am probably going to get slated,i am seriously thinking if fitting a skyline rb25 in to an fc or fd,the rb engine is 29" long and 24"tall inc sump,i dont have an engine bay to measure up,so does anyone know if this will fit and the bonnet close without having to cut any holes???
i think it could be quite different, instead of the usual sr20 swaps...:burnout or if there are any pics if this has been done already...thanks...
contraversial, but intresting
hopefully someone can help...
I think the engine is going to be too long for the engine bay unless you can move the gearbox back, no probs with a V8 swap, but they did a straight six Supra conversion (US) and they couldnt fix the handling problems in the end
Why not use the RB26? I remember seeing a pic of an FD with a Supra lump in it, she looked really nose-heavy, engine came a fair way over the front axle.

maybe be more room in the fc...
Now this makes much more sense!

yeah, interesting, would you not put something a bit revvier in? the RB25s are a bit lazy imho?

Is that a real Fc or a Photo shop?
interesting idea and well worth a shot. my concern would be that it is a heavy engine and the beauty of the rotary is that it is lightweight and small and as such sits far back in the engine bay to give a nice weight distribution in the rx.
good luck in the project. i for one would like to see it happen :)

its a real fc of yahoo auctions...
cool, get on a plane and take it for a test drive :D
yes shaf that fc is real sweet, just needs the rb motor,as the pic is just for reference of how it could look...
i know TSL now have a demo car with a cossie lump in it ? i got chatting with the builder the other day when i went to look at another car he had !
Seems a interesting project, the Cossie lump is smaller hence the better fitting into the FD, the Skyline lump is bigger though and might well be better suited to the FC perhaps :Thumbs-up
And that looks a nice FC too :wiggle
cheers gurj...i think it could be good... just need to decide on fc or fd...
I wonder though how abouts getting a Skyline and transfering a 20B into there instead ???
Would be interesting but pee off all the Skyline peeps i\'m sure :evillaugh
lol, that i like the sound of
HI NIGEL i have a car at work i can measure it for you i think you are going to struggle with the bonnet as a six is long , i think the front 2/3 cylinder will be over the front wheel centre line im not at work on wednesday but give me a ring on thursday and i will measure for you cheers craig 07950399080

where can i get that bonnet from ??
Sod the 20b, isn\'t the engine bay big enough for a 4 Rotor ???

I had thought about a 1JZ conversion, the 2.5 TT out of the soarer, this would be a better swap than the RB25 imo, I\'m now going to stick with rebuilding my current one but maybe further down the line I may consider this swap again, but the numerous LS1 conversions seem like a good idea too, as long as the RX still handles the same.
The RB is a very very heavy engine and probably no more reliable than a 13b especially the way so many around these days dont even seem to get serviced.
you have got to be joking...an rb in my opinion is so much more reliable than a 13b...ls1 engine swaps are to common...rb is just different which is what i like...

They can be reliable, but they can also be far more troublesome. They love to spin big end shells for no reason and the rebuild cost is 3x that of a 13b. Dont forget the awesome ford CVH quality oil pumps too! :)
Get an LS2 then, or just do the sensible thing and get a bridge port. :InLove
If you want to do it get RB26DETT instead, RB25 engine not very tuneable.
Learn that when I had a Skyline R34 GTT with RB25DET neo (like VVTi).

Sod the 4 Rotor, surely the engine bay is big enough for the Hurley 6 rotor..???!!

lol...the rb25 is one of the most tuneable engines, also the r34 gtt neo engine is different to the r33 rb25...
If RB25 is tuneable why would the most GTS owner swap RB26 engine?? Beside R34 GTT and R33 GTS are same engine and same block.
if you only want 350-400bhp, RB25 more than enough :chat , any more power you just wasting money on that engine.
there are loads of 500hp rb25det gts-t on the skyline owners club, that are tuned, and very reliable...anyways its my choice of engine as they are cheap to buy and will be more than enough power for me in an fc...:)
The RB25 is higher compression than the 26, quite honestly the 25 is perfectly good for 500bhp.
