Title: Injectors
Post by: jetpilot on October 02, 2006, 03:11:51 PM
Hi Guys. I am now starting work on the FD,  T78 turbo, engine has been street ported and has power fc, is currently running standard injectors and fuel pump. Will be changing to a Bosch 044 and uprating the injectors but am still a little out of my depth with injectors, so could do with some recommendations for a good set up with perhaps a little room in reserve on the injectors for possible future turbo change? Thanks.

dont mess around, go for a 1600cc secondary kit, Reworx sell the kit , eg 2x1600 injectors, blanking plate, fuel rail,FPR,Fittings and braided pipes

not on the turbo you have unless you are planning to run past 1.4 BAR,
try and keep the 550s as it will give you good idle and cruise.
Big secondaries only kick in when you are in the boost zone past 4000rpm.

This is quite a useful table that shows possible setups.  I would go for what Blitzboy has said.  Stick with the 550\'s in primary for good idle etc and then stick in a bigger secondary rail with the 1600\'s.

My magical mystical powers tell me you might have a spare secondary fuel rail floating about in a box somewhere if you do need extra 850\'s..... Don\'t ask how i know!!

P.S, this reminds me, need to write a cheque tomorrow, sorry jetpilot, totally forgot! :):)
Title: Cheaper options
Post by: MAZDASPEEDTIM on October 12, 2006, 01:03:49 AM
Newby here but thought I might be able to help as a Ford and Mazda parts man down here in New Zealand.  Speed shops tend to charge the earth for injectors so here is some genuine part options.

Largest Mazda injector (cosmo)  625cc (conservative rating) Mazda part no N253 13250,  Denso no. 1955000830.  May be of use as primarys.  I have sold these before down here, under 70 pound plus tax. (Retail)

For 1600cc injectors go see your Ford dealer.  Used for efi natural gas powered cars in USA.  Ford part No.  XL3Z 9F593 CA,  I think off the top of my head bosch no. is 0280 150 846,  will require custom/modified rail I believe.  Sold down here under 50 pound.

Your dealers will likely need to order ex Japan and USA respectively, unless you are lucky.  But if the price is right?  (pricing will likely be different than NZ as well)  If the part no.s dont work in their computer ask them to send an inquiry to head office, they are good no.s, normally stocked down here.

1600cc is mighty big, they get used down here in Alcohol powered drag rotors.  You will need some serious huff going on to burn that much petrol!!

Good luck.

don\'t calcutae my setup says 335 atf. My rail pressure is 35psi at idle and I make 522 rwhp at 1.4bar.
In answer to the q 1600 and 550 will more than cover waht you need

Oh he got that figure from the reference table?
Sounds like it could be pretty accurate though.
Take me out for a spin when you have a 900hp car chris!

I just did the injector calculater. I use it on customer cars to. Its a reasonable indicator of power, but there are many variables.
