Title: Changing the belts
Post by: blackrex on October 01, 2006, 07:44:27 PM
Hi,

Just wondering how hard/easy it would be to change all the belts on my FD3S. Some of them are not looking the best to say the least.
Is it a job I could under take myself with relative ease or is it worth leaving it to the experts?
Thanks for your help

Hi mate,

its a very easy job to do....Just remove a few of the things that are in the way first such as intake elbow and poss IC and AST and everything will become apparent!

Usaly fitting a stock belt isn\'t too bad but if the air pump has been removed it can be a pain in the rear. After you have removed all the ovious stuff (AST etc) you need to ajust it right off, i found the easyest way is get the belt on the Crank and half over the water pump then work the belt by first pushing it half way over the Alt pulley and turning the engine to line it up so half the belt is on. Then using the end of an Extension (not your fingures) push the belt hard over the Pulley at the same time some one is Turning the engine over off the Bottom Pulley (IMPORTANT!!!! Make sure the Ignition is OFF!! even take the EGI fues out as you don\'t want it starting) and you\'ll proberly only move it one groove at a time, don\'t use anything sharp to push it oviously :)
