Just I didn\'t even know they would fit..... thought it would be interesting to see what the reaction was, & the Hilux set up is designed to stop 3.5 tons so stopping power shouldn\'t be an issue???

Wait for the::spank

I would like to see that with an FD vented disk too, I would think the Pads would be thicker on a Hilux (thinner Disks). But i can\'t get my head around why you would put cheap pads in some thing like an FD, I personaly use my car for weekends etc so i would put cheap pads in my daily and get the Brakes as good as poss for Track and fast road in my FD.

I was suprised at this..... I was looking to find out where the retainer springs should go on my Hilux brake pads, that\'s how I stumbled on it!! Also I found out that people who mod the AE86?? (Old corrola??) rave about the Hilux 4 pot calipers and they are seen as the ultimate upgrade for stopping power as they have 4 40mm pistons in each caliper and stop 3.5 tons!!!!

If you dont want to pay for decent brake pads you shouldnt own an FD, this and people buying cheap tyres bug me...

Well i can understand people trying to run an Expencive car like an FD on a Budget.

BUT!!! I have seen things in the past like fitting cheap tyres that have the wrong ratings etc then hammering round a Track which i consider dangrous.

This is one of those things where it would work proberly as well as a Stock pad but you can buy a set of Mintex pads for say £30. so if you want to use Stock compound pads its an Option. But i personaly upgrade my Pads as i like to do Track days etc and there is no point in using Stock level.

I guess its the bigger calipers that give the performance, the setup can\'t be that bad if its stopping 3.5tonne from 100mph, cheap or not.

if they take 3.5 tonne they must be longer lasting than fd pads surely?

Ask your self why one is more expencive then the other?

You\'ll proberly find they have been designed for diffrent levels of heat (bit like Race pads can start at Road level and go up to full blown Ceramics that won\'t fair at 200mph)

Think about the speed a Disk will turn at higher Speeds. They will be completly diffrent even though they look the same the compound will be designed for a diffrent Job.

the weight of he vehicle would create just as much heat braking from 100 - omph than an fd breaking from 150 - 0mph, the hilux weighs twice as much. would be interesting to find out.

Actualy the hilux weighs the same as the FD believe it or not: about 1250KG but carrying weight is 1 tone in the back and a trailer!!

All i have to say is. Have you ever driven a Hilux with a Ton and a Half of Car and Trailer on the back. I had ago today :) The brakes didn\'t feel that good :2eek

I\'ll stick to my 150-0 in an FD Cheers.:yes

Must have been something going on with the brakes on that one then.... driven mine with a 2 tone car on a trailer and felt OK..... could be the load sensor nakerd on the rear of the one you drove as that affects the stopping power!!
