really cracked on with it this week ready for japfest II. Finally got it done after countless hours of fibreglassing, sanding, shaping, reshaping, fitting, refitting and finally painting yesterday.

Looking great fella!
Pat on the back for you. One of the best installs yet, and home made too!
Chris:)
Awesome build, Done a little bit of fibreglassing on door pods and its a huge process to get something remotely near that quality !!!
Shaun
Now thats impressive!!!:yes
wow im in progress and fibre glassing takes ages!!!!
very very nice set up m8
mines next is it???????????
lol
hey mikey, i dont mind helping folks out but your, the other end of the world to me, lol. Im down in sunny, although not at the moment, Devon.
Anyway, heres some more details including some progress pics:
The install took me several months, as mentioned. Cost about £60 in total to make the surround so its not expensive but it is a long process. Id estimate that things needed doing on average about 5-8times to get a decent fit for everything. the most difficult part was getting the black mould around the wiper mechanism on the bootlid to clear the fibreglass, this took literally 10 or so hours just to get this right so it would shut. In total id say about 100hours went into this but i kept changing the style slightly as the install was progressing. heres some pics:
firstly i used expending foam to get a shape

very nice m8
does look like hard work think ill stick to simple installs
very nice....top job
did you do the whole thing in the boot? lol.. or did you just refit afterwards bud.. was wondering how they got the bloody shapes when the do things like this lol expanding foam!! bloody great idear lol.. i tryed using carboard.. didnt go to well lol.. but iv got meters n meters of the fiber glass cloth material so im gunna try your way and make something wonderfull :)
cheers bud, any tips of the trade that a help me ?
serious stuff m8
Wow, ive always expanded fabric over risers and then covered it in fibreglass resin to start the shape off.
Good place to readup on is http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/ in the forums.
Very interesting.
Shaun
nice one mate. saw yours at japfest today, looked tidy :)
That is an awsome looking install - rest of the inside from what I can see looks pretty smart as well. Colour works really well. Great job.
interlooper, havent really got any tips but if you get stuck with anything specific im happy to help. To be honest, once you know the basics of fibreglassing and using easysand filler theres not much to it. I just do this stuff as a hobby but its really not as hard as you think, persistance is the biggest thing to overcome as sometimes it just feels like your not getting anywhere when things have to be completly sanded away and started again, lol.
One thing i would say is expanding foam is a lot easier to deal with than using fabric, and a lot quicker too. I have used fabrick before ontop of risers but it limits what you can do.
With the expanding foam i just used tin foil to cover the entire boot, then squirted away with a few tubs of foam, let it set for an hour and then you can take the whole lot out the boot and start work outside the car. It was an added benefit for me that my bro is a window fitter, so he let me use as much foam as i wanted, otherwise id have spent £50 in foam. My advice would be to buy a box of foam at trade instead of individual tins.
Cheers for that bud, iv used fiber glass quite a bit over the years but like like this.. im itching to have a go lol. gunna buy a few tins today and try a few smaller projects and see how i get on, see this easy sand stuff, is that body filler? as iv got a huge tin as i do a fair bit of body work on cars i import but its not that easy to sand, even tho it says easy to sand on the tin.lol :Nono!
Would you mind emailing me all the pics you have from start to finish? just to give me a ruff idear on how to approach it?
emails interloper393@aol.com
Yours look awsome, if i cn get anything even closs to that id be over the moon lol.
for some reason ive lost loads of progress pics but ive got pics of the pods, which were done in the same way (with fibreglass, bodyfiller and foam). Ill email them to you
Saw your car at Donnington yesterday. Was having a nose around while you were busy polishing the car.
Really liked the work you\'d done. Top stuff :Thumbs-up
You goning to do anything under the bonnet now?
Couldn\'t help but notice the size and placement of your air filter :D
Adam
thats really is great work you`ve done bud, you`ve been a great help lol i`ll keep ou upto date with what im trying to do hehe... i`ll have to send you some beer tokens for all your help :D
can you send me all of your pic\'s you have e me aswell would love to c everything, been thinking of doing mine for awhile
franky_boy666@hotmail.com, thanks
franky, i think ive got the progress pics on my brothers phone so ill figure how to get them on the comp then email you them.
ada7, im still thinking about the location of the filter. Perhaps a Vmount would sort that problem, and ive been thinking about adding methanol injection to reduce knock in a seperate system to the water injection. Then maybe push for over 400 atw. its at 370 at present on 1bar. :)
hey bud, a wee update for ya, heres a few pics of a small piece iv been practising on, ruff around the edges but was just seeing how i got on with it lol.. learnt aload of what not to do lol.. what cha think?

You inspired me :D
Personally I think the \'fast car UK\' seatbelt pads finish it off perfectly, looks like someone poured in half a ton of custard to the boot, accidentally ruining some large speakers and amp boxes. ;)
Great work bud, !!!:cheers ...........where do you put your golf clubs ? hehehehehehLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL:rollin Only taking the peeeeeeeeee !! Well impressed..:chat

:rollin i dont mind giving my engine and chassis everything it needs but ill be ****3d if im paying £25 for some pads that do exactly the same things as some free ones we had lying about. i only used about 1/3litre of custard for the boot, the half ton went all down the car:p
