Title: Boost problem in 1st
Post by: Ian@TunerUK on September 25, 2006, 12:04:41 PM
When accelerating hard in first, the first turbo seems to boost fine, but when the second turbo comes on, the boost drops to around .2/.3 bar.

It\'s boosting fine in everyother gear however, just seems to do it in 1st, any ideas?

Could it possibly be due to a vacuum hose coming lose? Just seem a bit baffled why it only does it in first though...

Theres a really good website for this sort off stuff

http://www.autosportracetech.com/RX-7/rx7stuff.htm

Very usefull

According to the symptoms is probably a vacuum hose on that website its probs a vacuum hose, undo the presure chamber thing on the front of the upper manifold and inspect from there, then i guess if you cant find it take the upper manifold off and inspect the hoses

other things could be a dodgy check value or solenoids info on that site on how to test them.

QuoteA typical problem is loss of Secondary boost in 1st or 2nd gear at 4,500 RPM, but reliable operation in other gears. This points to one side of the Turbo Control Actuator not getting it\'s pressure/vacuum, so it will still operate but not quickly enough.

Looks like this is likely to be your problem - found on said website.
