Title: All you dash painters out there...
Post by: Bulla on September 25, 2006, 09:36:32 AM
Started painting my dash at the weekend, rover gunmetal grey.

Did two coats of primer first and have got to the fourth coat of paint. Now at the moment its quite rough to the touch, I wet and dried it with a 1200 grit paper and this smoothed it right down but has still retained enough paint to look good.

My question is, if I apply another coat will it leave it rough again, or should I just leave it after wet and drying it to keep the smooth finish ? Maybe a finer grit paper ? Dont want to laquer it as it makes it too shiny.

Cheers for any advice

Bulla

It should be fine, I wet and dried mine quite a bit and then applied a thin coat of lacquer to help make the paint a little more solid.  I didn\'t want it shiny as such.  This photo makes it look a little shinier than it is due to the flash, but the 3 folk that have seen it so far say it looks like stock :)

Have you thought of \'Mat\' laquer?
