Are they actually needed if you keep the stock twins? Since it aleady has one is it needed. Just wondering as it\'s one less thing to buy at the moment :)

Agree with Paul, intended to buy one myself but was put off as it\'s not actually needed unless you\'re desperate for the sound effects. Also been told to keep away from the HKS item as it corrodes badly over time. Apexi or Greddy/ Trust units probably the best to look at imo

Forge also do a twin bov for little cost.

If you\'re single (turbo) then you can use one of them - some say it\'s needed to prevent damage to the turbo.  They\'re probably right!  BOVs don\'t have to be loud - decent ones shouldn\'t be imo - the more noise they make the more resistance to airflow and less efficient they are!

Twins don\'t need one...

I\'ve gone single, and am currently using the bypass valve used for twins!! May have to purchase something more appropriate at a later date.

ARE YOU RUNNING TWINS?

IF SO, HOW DID YOU CONNECT IT?

My stock one is still plumbed back into the intakes like stock (have HKS RS intakes) and that\'s loud enough for me!

I may be mistaken but from this thread it sounds like there is some sort of mod that can be done to the standard twin sequential turbo set up that produces the same / similar sound as buying an after market BOV?

If so how do you do this mod?

the pipe that goes into the back of you airbox.(the one with the bov on it)
disconnect that and block the hole left in the box.(the bov is the top pipe)

it does the noise but you can here itblow more as you go up the revs

yeah the stock one blows off too easy was running it disconnected from box for a while

as for fitting the aftermarket blitz one i just took the old stock bov off the hose and put the blitz one in its place

In my experiance you get what you pay for!!!! I bought one from the states and the internals split within 12 months! I\'ve now bought a second hand HKS unit, yes it\'s a little scuffed and corroded in parts but I\'m well happy with it!!

for the fd3 set-up, blitz sound the best and are v easy to install as long as your hands can fit in2 tight gaps, just remove the old denso unit and connect up the boost pipe and vaccume pipe, straight swap, and then block off the bit on your air-filter where the recirculating pipe goes but thi last bit isnt necessary...

I\'ve got a FD3S fitting kit for the HKS SSQV BOV somewhere. If you can find a cheap enough kit off another car then you can buy this off me for £30 an swap it over

I\'ve still got the HKS SSQV on mine (transfered to the IC pipes when I went single) I\'ve had it for about 18 months now an it\'s in great condition an sounds as good as new.

when I had it running with the twins, It sort of whistled but not in a tacky bailey escort rs turbo way (appologies to any RST owners) because it\'s a sequential valve you get dump even at low boost, but it sounds VERY different now that I\'ve changed to single turbo an gives more of a chatter. I love it an wouldn\'t swap it for anything else. It was the first thing I fitted to my RX an me an a mate drove half way down the country to get it then fitted it in the car park before driving back :Giggle

anyone got any pics of before and after
as i had my blitz removed the other day and not sure where it would fit now.

it used to connect to the elbow but now ive removed it with a greddy one theres no hole to tap into.

also notice a small woosh sound still coming from the apexi induction.
never had a turbo car before so unsure of what goes where.
cheers
