Title: The dreaded boost probs (again!)
Post by: Bobbit on September 24, 2006, 12:31:51 PM
I\'m having boost probs, basically i am getting good boost on the first turbo and the transition is fine, 2nd turbo pulls nice and strong. When i come off boost the first turbo has little or no boost but the 2nd works fine. If i drive so i only use the first turbo the boost eventually builds until it is fine (usually takes about 7-10 gear changes, taking the revs to 4000 each time and changing gear before the transition.) Then the cycle begins again if i take the revs over 4500 and the 2nd come online. So basically, using the 2nd turbo causes the 1st to loose boost until it slowly builds boost up again. Anyone got any ideas what could cause this?
If i drive on just the 1st turbo and dont use the 2nd i get good boost all the time, tried this for 2 weeks solid and never failed to get boost, took the car over 4500 using the 2nd turbo and got the same result. :2Mad
Help?

Sounds like a pipe problem if it comes on and off.

I have 2 rx7s at the moment and have had this same problem with both.

Check all the pipes and see if 1 in crimped. Other than that it may be a 1 way valve that is clogged.

Cheers bud, think it may be a one way valve then as i have recently changed all the pipes. Looks like my saturday is gonna be spent under the bonnet yet again! (sad thing is i enjoy it under there, gets quite cozy after a while!)
