new law says my child has to have child seat but i cant find one that fits in the back off my car, any body know where you can get one that fits:Thumbs-up
There was a similar topic a couple of weeks ago, do a quik search and see what comes up. Sure someone found one for a 9 month child that fits...
they wont see him in the back of the fd!

Thats a tad irresponsible....Better to be safe than sorry

(appreciate it was a joke, unfortuately there are some idiots out there! How many times have you seen a car full of children in the back, not secured by a seat belt yet the adults are all secured and safe!!)
Sounds the same as when mum\'s walk up to a crossing, push their pram out into the road while safely looking left and right themselves ;)
she 8 years old but short, could try stretching her lol
In all seriousness I reckon an 8 yr old should be fine in the back of an FD. Obviously you would have to check if the seat belt fits across the shoulder OK, but the seats are so small and supportive that they act rather like child seats. Don\'t know how you stand legally though - the law probably would not recognise anything other than a properly fitted child seat, which would be next to impossible in the back of an FD (for an 8 year old) I would have thought.
i have the exact wording of the law at work. ill post it 2morro
Child seats compulsory until children reach 4ft 5in (135 cm) or the age of 12
Children up to age of three must be carried in appropriate seat
Exemption for over-threes in "unexpected necessity"
Exemption if there are three children but only room for two car seats
I\'m afraid that "rear bucket seats in a Mazda RX-7 FD3S" is not listed ;)
However, if this is not a main car, why not put her in the front if there\'s no other passenger?

\'Unexpected Necessity\' looks like it could cover a multitude of sins.
With respect to the \'three children\' exemption.....How about you\'ve got 1 child, but no room for
any car seats....Similar logic!!!!.....:D
Same If It An Unexpected Jeorney(spl) Or A Taxi"
Unexpected journey was defined as something like a short journey for emergency purposes, and not a school run !
The beeb website has all the facts which is quite useful.
Bottom line though, car seat required.
Taxi companies in Glasgow have been told to ensure that they have children seats in the boot for such cases with children under the limits. That saying, i\'m sure any parent when calling a taxi company would say \'my child will need a car seat, any cabs with one?!!\'....
..then again probably not! :(

Geez and dont ask them if you can pay by card !!!!!
