Ok pretty obvious what im going to ask from the tread title but can anyone tell me what the best exhaust system is for a 1999 3rd gen RX7, i have just purchased one and i hate the current exhaust system for several reasons. I want an exhaust that will meet 3 requirements:
1. The overall look after installation in relation to the rear bodywork and how the exhaust sits and compliments the car.
2. Sound i dont have any problem with track limits as that is not on the agenda i have a seperate car for track days, but then again i dont want anything to loud, just a nice powerful sounding rumble at idle and then a pick up in sound as the throttle goes down - just to compliment the engine not to make the car sound like it has wind.
3. Performance enhancements of anykind? better throttle response, turbo, power etc!
Ideally i want to stay away from HKS and GReedy as i have HKS parts installed on my R34 and GReedy on my Supra so im trying to stay away from HKS and GReedy in order to give all 3 of my cars different personalities if you will. I have been looking at APEXI!?!? but again just wondering if APEXi would be sutable.
Any advice and replies would be appreciated. Regarding what the best is recommend on the market, what you guys run and have installed anything at all would be appreciated.
Have a look at some KnightSport goodies. You can buy a High Flow cat from there, and also the dual downpipe looks very nice.

Racing Beat would be suited to your needs I reckon!
Yeh they have the APEXi GT Spec exhaust which is one i have been looking at for a while now, just gotto decide whether to go dual exhaust as it is at the moment of single, if i decide single i might just go with this APEXi and see how it turns out.
Thanks for the reply.
There\'s a group buy on SMB exhausts http://www.smb.net.au/fullsystemsmazdarx7.htm over in FD:UK... http://www.fduk.org/forum/showthread.php?t=5728&page=2
They run at about stock noise levels (v. quiet for a Rex) but do not disrupt the high flow you need.

The N1 and GTs are 2 of the worst sounding FD exhaust on th emarket imo :King
OK so with regards to APEXi, what from your experience look and sounds the best? Not sure if you have read above but ive got a R34 with HKS parts, a TT Supra with GReedy parts so im trying to stay clear of HKS and GReedy to give my RX7 its own personality like my R34 and Surpa. Was looking at Apexi to start with so any ideas regarding there systems?

Ooo yea! Thats what mine has (still cant get used to saying that). It makes a nice burbling sound at low revs and sounds like an animal when you open it up.. cant wait for the sound to come back :D

I had a GT on mine and all i can say its the loudest thing i have heard but i loved it. They are 3.75" pipe so quite big but dont have hardly any bends which helps big time.
Stay away from HKS Super Drager, lost so much power with one of these on
apexi n1 with the cat in and stock dp wot does that sound like anyone?

Im currently running with a duel tip Racing Beat system and DAM! the thing is loud especially on start up while she is warming up. I might end up buying a new system duel tip either by racing beat again or apexi see how it looks and sounds and if its still popping my ear drums in my garage when i start her i might look into quieting her down a little with a little tinkering.
