Title: slight coolant leak
Post by: michaelb on September 21, 2006, 02:09:50 PM
Hi all

I have a slight coolant leak and I can not find where the problem is.
I have to put about a glass of water every 3/4 days.  The car does not over heat, starts perfect, no white smoke, no bubbles in the rad so no seals issue here.

Do you think that I can put Radweld into my radiator with out damaging / blocking something else in the RX7 set up?
I do not fancy a £400/£600 bill at Rotechnis, every time I go there I get a massive bill..

What do you all think ?

Regards,
Michaelb

have you checked your AST to see if its leaking from there? these are known to leak over time from the joins ?

Hi

It may be the AST but I really can not see any leak, where does the bottom AST hose go to?  I can not get to it to see maybe there is the problem.

I can smell the coolant sometimes but can to find any traces of leaks just by looking under the bonnet..

Regards,
Michaelb

Get the car nice and warm and keep it running while looking for the leaks.

If you can\'t find any then get someone to hold the revs at about 3000 - this will pressurise the system and open up any hairline cracks/leaks.

No doubt it\'ll be your AST or turbo coolant lines :)
