Title: 1977 Mazda 929 Coupe
Post by: Mike D on September 21, 2006, 11:46:33 AM
Yesterday, me and one of my friends went on a 14 hour trip to rescue this, it was offered for sale by a banger racer as being too good to race, so thought i\'d best take it upon myself to save it :)

It needs the rear arches sorting, and a few little bits, and the interior sorting, but overall its good n solid :D

Mike :)

Superb looking car!

Very similar to the Mitsubishi colt/Galant GTO of the same era..

Putting the whole \'being biased towards Mazda\' thing aside, I think that shape is absolutely gorgeous and a truly classic design. It has the lines of an American Muscle car but without the weight/train-like handling/sportshall size interior. It is in your face but in a subtle kind of way. Love the pointy bonnet too. Can just imagine one brapping away on a big carb. I want one badly.......... :mmmm

I will watch this project with interest. Please keep us updated and PLEEEEEASE paint it BLACK and put a bridgy in it with a Weber 48.....

:cheers

Great save Mike!

What are your plans for it? Not the 929 (pickup) engine I hope ;)
It looks pretty reasonable externally, what\'s the chassis like?

See you soon.

Mike,

This might help with the project unless you\'ve got it already

http://www.hotperthcars.net/general/rx4_manual_part1_core_chapters.pdf

Appenently there are some chapters missing but soon to be included, specific info on the 929 is due later. Found the link on Ausrotary.com

Wouldn\'t try saving the file unless you\'ve got broadband though.

nice rescue, great to know it was saved from that fate, not like a banger racer to take pitty! the modified black one is ok but the spoiler and bonnet scoop do it no justice in my opinion. why would you want to make such a cool looking car look like a corsa!
