Title: Wierd rev\'s drop on clutch use
Post by: agroupuk on September 19, 2006, 11:18:18 AM
Hi all,

Quick question, since the service on saturday I have managed to stall the car once on the way home and have noticed this morning that the revs are behaving weirdly.

I will explain...

On the way back from WGT I was nearly home and pulled onto the off ramp. When I got to the top of the ramp to the roundabout I obviously stopped at the junction. (clutch in, brake on, into first, stop, handbrake on, off brake pedal... wait for gap) Now I didnt notice because I had my music on loud but I had stalled.

I restarted the car (a little embarrasing) and then continued on - so car was hot at this point.

Anyway - on the way to work this morning I noticed the revs dropping almost to nothing when I was stopping at junctions and then popping back up to 850ish.

I figure I am gonna stall it again at this rate and would rather a little advice as to what to check bearing in mind I am engine stupid.

The alternator belt was changed and the power steering belt. Other than that it had the full service - fluids, plugs, filters ETC.

What could be causing this drop in revs at stop? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Iwould suggest a call to WGT as they did the work which now results in your car behaviour :King

Just spoke to Pip. He talked me through upping the fueling on idle. It was a little low he said.

I will give it a go tomorrow on the way to work and see if it is making a difference. He is sure nothing in the service should have effected it. Actually he was a little concerned it was set to low - I think it was the point at which fueling cuts in at idle and it was set to 1000rpm. We upped it to 1200rpm as Pip thinks its not catching the fueling cycle at the right rev when i clutch down and break (oviously getting low revs when pulling to a junction)

God bless the PFC !

Anyway - i will keep you all informed :)

Cheers
