Title: iffy wipers
Post by: prisspringle on September 17, 2006, 10:14:53 AM
i went to look at the new car last night, the wipers only seemed to work on the 1st setting the owner said it was down to the relay, what the chances of him been right and how much work to put right bearing in mind that i have all the parts to fix it and i can do the work myself.

on the plus side the engine started 1st try and sounded healthy and it looks like i\'l be getting it for less than 200 quid.

If you do a search you\'ll find this is a comon problem, It will need a relay replacing in the Wiper switch or the Switch changing.

There are quite a few diffrent write ups on how to do the job too.

Both RS and Farnell sell the relay you need - it\'s an OMRON relay.

You can get the cover off the switch without cutting it open, which is one suggested repair method.  I also found a couple of burnt out tracks on the switch pcb on mine.
