Title: Heater U/S
Post by: pjd7325 on September 16, 2006, 05:43:36 PM
Hi my heater in my 88 fc does not work. Although the fan operates ok it does not blow any hot air out but blows cold. I have checked the fuses and cicuit breakers.

It`ll not be fuses m8,  check you got water in your engine.  and feel the pipes to see if they are hot ?  also is the cold flap moving when u switch it from hot too cold ?

Hi thanks for that. There is water in the engine/ radiator and expansion tank. When I topped the cooling system up after I got the car I did remember to take the bleed screw out so I wouldn\'t cause an air lock. Plus it doesn\'t over heat so I assume there is plenty of water in there? As regards the hot and cold flap where would that be located? I\'m not very familuar with the rotary engine so till getting used to them!! I\'ve already encounted the flooding problem with them.:2Confused

Could be yeah but how do I get to the flap? A strange thing happens to and that is the centre console gets very warm when the car is running no matter where the heater control switch is! May be unrelated!

When u turn the switch, u should here the flap moving or closing,

Take the centre air vents out,  they all come out as one,  and u can see the top of the switches to see if they are connected,  the Hot centre console, could be one of the vents arent connected ,so its blowing hot air onto the center console

I have checked all the pipes and they are getting hot. The flaps are not moving to let the hot air in but I can\'t get the air vents out! I can\'t see how to get at them without breaking something (which I usually do!). Would Mazda sort it?

On a second gen you may find its the Control unit its self. They can be a bit Temprimental at times.

Also check the pipe work upto the matrix has not been looped, its an old trick for a temp fix to a leaking Matrix.
