Title: Coolant Buzzer On Constantly
Post by: yogibear on September 15, 2006, 07:29:46 PM
Hi Guys

Not even a week bck into FD ownership and ive got a problem allready. Basically i topped up the coolant this evening when I got home. Then started the car up and the buzzer sounded. So I switched off the engine and checked the coolant levels again. Appear fine . So i fired the engine again and again the buzzer kicks in after about 20 seconds at idle. Took the low coolant sensor out  seamed fine. Checked its connector, again semed fine. Not sure what to do now. Another thing is that if I put the key in and turn it to the last notch ( where the dash lights light up ) and leave it there after 20 seconds the buzzer comes on.

Am stumped any advice or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Niall

Hi mate sounds like a dodgy sensor or connection to me.
Check the manual for testing the sensor and re check the wireing.
Apart fomr that I am sure someone else will have further idea\'s.

Thanks Eddie

Still strugleing with it. Had a look in the workshop manual but couldent see the info on checking the low coolant level sensor. Does anybody know the procedure for checking if its working properly or not? This is stressing me out big time. Is it the only low level water sersor or is there another on the throttle body?

Thanks

Niall

there is only the one,    there is on connector by the sensor but there is another one by the power steering which is a black connector.

The easy way to check it is to unplug the connector by the thermo housing, connect the end that isnt attached to the sensor to an earth.  If it still buzes then look for the other connector as it means its not the sensor.  There are 3 around the front left hand side of the block that are black single connectors, one is the knock sensor, one is the power steering and one is the water sensor.

When you find the water sensor, connect that to earth (the bit that goes to the loom not to the sensor) and the buzzing should stop
this is assuming its not low on water!
