I\'ve recently gotten the idea in my head to purchase a dead RX7 and rebuild the engine over a period of time. The plan would be to get one with a dead engine but otherwise good condition and keep it in my parents garage for the next year and a bit rebuilding the engine with my dad.
How much would you guys expect to get hold of one of these as money would be fairly tight on this project or would you suggest getting it done professionally? Also are there any Rotary specialists in the Devon area?
Saving up has now been put on hold as my Passat has just developed a cam belt tensioner issue which needs to be replaced asap.
I quite fancy doing that as well. The overall outlay seems to be roughly the same anyhow. Price for a decent Rx7 around 7k, price for a blown one but otherwise good nick say 3-4k? plus pro rebuild for 3k, Diy rebuild 2k ??
Don\'t make the mistake of getting a dustbin of a blown car though as you\'ll have a nightmare, try to get one with cooling mods and so on already done. Maybe a single turbo as well because then it will be much less complicated to rebuild the extra bits.
I don\'t really want a modded one, I\'m after a completely standard car.
Theres One On E Bay, Not Blown £1500 So Far I Think, Needs A Rebuild
got a link for that one? I\'m at work so I can\'t spend too long trawling through ebay. Problem is I don\'t have the money at the mo but I could get £4k for my passat once the clutch and cam belt tensioner is sorted then buy a cheap runaround for the meantime as I don\'t drive much anymore anyway.
Cheers for the heads up

This is probably the one. UK car too, so will be cheaper to insure.
