Finally got my car back from the body shop and I seem to be having a small problem with the car, it was running okay and was boosting about a week ago but detonation was at about 40 and heat light was on briefly.
Car has decat, super dragger back, trust FMIC apexi filters, alloy rad. PFC.
Recently done a service, but my car has run out of fuel recently and I was wondering if it may be the fuel filter blocked?
I WOT in any gear and it looses all power at about 3000 revs and seems to bounce back up to 3000 form zero then nothing again, it bunny hops down the road.
If car is stationary it seems Okay to rev just when under load.
It does however have a bad idle and is struggling to keep going
Any ideas
I had a look to see if map sensor or any visible pipes had come of but nothing jumps out at me.
I have a PFC and all seems to register fine with my sensors and no heat light
Any help please.
Do you have bigger injectors fitted? I have read some on here some where that PFC\'s tend to loose there maps ever so often i\'m just woundering if this could be the case as i had a simalar thing happen on my T2 when i fitted bigger injectors and did\'nt remap it.
May be worth Changing the Plugs and Filter, When cars are in the Body shop they are started and stoped alot without realy getting warm so this may have Knackered your Plugs.
Hi Grizzly
No bigger injectors but a few strange symptoms, by the way its not been mapped yet.
Ac has been playing up recently intermittent on and off operation.
But today before taking it out for a good raging I noticed the fans remained on even when car is turned of, I have to disconnect the battery to stop them?
When I remove the cooling fan 60amp fuse I can here a clicking from under the plenium, ever so slightly.
The car was at a mates garage and not run as I have been running it when I went down to work on it, so always allowed to get warm.
I may go back to the OEM ECU as I never had any problems with plugs fouling adn get it to WGT.
Keep the info comming.
Thanks
Damn, you do not want to be ragging an un-mapped car fitted with de-cat, mid pipe, front mount and induction! Sounds like a recipe for detonation.
Hi MIllspeed I agree but when I say rag I just give it a little, no hard driving.
I would not go near redline or anything like that just wanted to clear her out as shes not been driven for a while, just a quick run up the street.
Knock readings are 40 at most currently and that was when I gave it a little taking her to the shop to have the bonnet sprayed.
Can you get fuel cut with the PFC? But then again, why would it happen at 3000rpm? Hmmm, it\'s a weird one. What sort of % inj. duty are you seeing? Pretty sure the fans are supposed to stay on after shut down, just to try and lessen the effect of heatsoak. Although they won\'t do much seeing as the coolant won\'t be circulating.
I have just been back out to the car and when I connect the battery the fans come on straight away again, should this still happen or is a timing feature involved once triggered it will not count down if ignition is off?
% inj I will check that when I take her out again this week, I will get someone in the car with me to take some readings.
Thanks for your help by the way.

Hmm, do the fans switch themselves off again after a while? Seems strange that they\'ll come on after the battery has been disconnected and then re-connected. Also, what sort of boost are you seeing on the primary turbo before she starts to lose power?
Hi again
They seem to be running constantly, maybe I need to leave things running to see if they switch off.
Not sure on the boost need to get that checked when I take it for a run what should I be seeing using the PFC?
THnaks
Don\'t think you can measure the boost on the Commander (although I haven\'t got a PFC so can\'t be sure, someone chime in if I\'m wrong!) Can you get hold of a boost gauge? The primary turbo should be boosting to 10 psi before the transition, I would imagine you\'d be hitting full boost on the primary by 3000rpm.
I do have one but it reads in NG (I think thats right) from memory, I will double check all of this for my run and get some more info on boost pattern and %inj duty.
Cheers
Well I found the rpoblem with my fans, I learnt that they have relay\'s four of them near the overflow tank, on closer inspection it seems that they are slightly worse for ware, the one which controls the fans was wet through and full of water no wonder they stayed on.
Also on the AC relay it seems it was worse for ware and looks a little rusty.
Drying them out now and am looking for a new pair.
I will let you know abou the power issue when I check it tomorrow.
