Title: its ok she`s not dead
Post by: mikeyh on September 06, 2006, 08:50:06 PM
picked the car up today from m8`s garage who had a look at her.

turns out to be some pipes in the rats nest need replacing and a solinoid as well.

once thats done if its still not right then just have to tak eit back to him.

he got engine commpression tested and its fine(dont know the results).

and even better he gave me a coloured drawing of rats nest of which pipes go where so even if i did gt it wrong i have that.

the solinoid is the double throttle one(pass only seen it on the drawing)
so its going to be a nice trip to mazda for one of them and a temp gauge switch.

so hopefull maybe have er up and running within a cpl of weeks

so wish me luck on the nest guys ill be in deep for a while lol

the double throttle control solenoid wont cause any real running problems....itll default the secondary throttles open iirc....

You can run without a secondary throttle control..there is an article about it some where..basically means removing the solenoid and removed the butterflies.

Great news though bud :D

You don\'t even need to do that, just block off the pipe to the butterflies and remover the solenoid, all it does is keep the butterflies closed untill the car has warmed up so you don\'t boot it.

If you block up the pipe then they will be open all the time and I\'m assuming your not stupid enough to boot it till its warm anyway.

Ok what i sugest you do first is repipe the Rats nest and replace the Check valves.

This can be done quite cheap but its a bit of a pain in the rear if its on the Car.

RxMotors does Viton Pipe at a good price and i would recomend this guy for Check Valves http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=561426&highlight=check+valves

Whilst your Doing this job check the two Plastic Tanks are in good order and not leaking.

The solenoids can also be checked i\'m not 100% sure myself how its done but if you do a search i\'m sure some one will have done it already as its quite comon.

you got a link or contact number for rxmotors?

and is it special pipe or any mm pipe??
hate doing jobs twice.

once i get the intake out ill see how easy it is to block off the double throttle valve if needed.

so i tak eit by blocking off the valve(both ends is it) then the valve stays open, but wont this cause even more fuel to flow out.

also still not getting the airpump to work?do youthink i should just send it down to wgt and let him sort out the pump for me????

heh? the valve dont control fuel. By blocking off the double throttle, all you do is default the double throttle butterflies to stay open.

//www.rxmotors.co.uk (Tim or Matt) They should sort you out.

Its not a Special size or anything but the rats nest is exposed to alot of heat so you want High temp Oil and fuel Resitant Rubber/Sillicon/Viton (Viton being the best)

£4 for 3 meters of silicon hose. Ive had mine on the car for a year with no problems. Dont see the point of paying any extra.

Quote from: mikeyhso what size of pipe do i need?3.5mm

Yep, 3.5mm and you need 4m on the safe side.

You would be wise to invest in a Sharp Modeling knife as well (to remove the Old pipes becouse they tend to be well on and you don\'t want to go Braking anything;))

If you want some advise take your time and do a nice job becouse the rats nest can cause a world of pain if the Pipes start coming off.

well took the inlet manifold off to expose the lovely word of pipes.

tried to remove a cpl of them by hand and they didnt seem to be that tight a fit(bput them rigth back though..

also tried blowing through the check valves most of them seemed to work ok but one is not working at all and the other has no one way action and is open all the time..

have taking a cpl of pics with phone but theres no add pic button on here.

one of the valves is black and is at the back of inlet manifold, one is big black and white and just remembered another one that slightly works and its green and black
if someone wants to post pics up for me then would help
