Title: Highest insurance premium?
Post by: mikeeech on November 19, 2003, 06:21:55 PM
Guys...
I\'ve just been reading the tread on average age of 3rd gen owners and am amazed that the insurance premiums don\'t send you to an early grave.

When I filled up my 3rd gen for the first time last week a young guy with a Honda prelude was admiring my car. The talk turned to insurance and he told be he was paying £5000/year for the group 19 prelude. (he was 21!)

So my question is what is the highest insuracne premium anybody pays for an RX7 (mine is £1085 and it hurts to loose this much! )

i was also quite surprised by the number of youngsters but even more surprised by the disgracefully low insurance they were paying i was forking out £1500 on a bog standard UK scooby at the age of 24 (no not claim, area or owt related) i think it\'s a outrage why didnt someone tell me there was a supreme car which was so cheap to run (http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0903/sehrgrosse/large-smiley-037.gif)

I\'m 35 and paying £950 - and that\'s after some hard looking round.

Yes the car is only parked on a drive, but I\'m supposedly in a group C zone.

Still most places wanted £12-1400 though I think this wasly down to the Mazdaspeed nose and rear wing.  AON, with who my highly modified MX-5 (>200 BHP) is with wanted an astonishing £1900 !!!!

it may be that the honda being a more common car has had more claims against it compared to a rare rx7. so from the insurance point of veiw they pay out more times to honda owners than rx owners.

now that the rx\'s are getting common (as muck) it wont be long till the premiums increase:D

turbo 2 insurance is practicly free:rollin

hahahahaa 5 grand on a prelude!! :D that guy needs his head read, doesnt he realize how much cheaper he could get that, even now i still get quotes for my 106 gti for about 3 grand even though it\'s insured for less than 600 quid.

i\'m 24, my rex is insured through the classic car as it\'s 11 years old, the 106 is for sale atm.

I have only just got mine, and I have transferred the policy from my old 200SX onto the RX.

Not looking forward to March, as the only quote I\'ve had up to yet (through AON) is £1650!!

31 with about 8 years NCB.

Mind you, there\'s also the 9 points (I am definitely buying a speed trap detector - three times is more than enough!) and being in the process of claiming for having written off my bike...

I always thought they weren\'t keen on modified cars? Guess I must be wrong, since yours isn\'t exactly standard :)

Tesco are terrible for RX7 insurance! - They quoted me over a grand more than I am paying with Adrian Flux.

I am paying over 1400 on mine, it started off at 800 with 6yrs NCB, but with all the mods it shot up by 600 notes.

how the hell do the guys on here quoting 495 get away with that?? Limited to 1 mile a year or something ;-)

I have a cat1 alarm, tracker, garage... hehe - no mile limits though..

Post by: finite on November 30, 2003, 12:01:24 AM
I\'m insured with Tescos, 3PFT... £2000/year

1 year no claims, standard \'92 spec car (although it is imported so doesn\'t count for classic car insurance), I\'m 22, CAT1, Tracker, Driveway.  Dreading the thought of the renewal!

Anyone recomend any other companies?

Gutted - I\'m paying about the same as you (low excess and full protected NCD) AND I\'m 26 and live in East London! (one of the uk\'s worst rated postcode areas)
:cool

Try phoning Houghton Insurance on 01582 867763. They were about half the price of anyone else I tried.
