Title: Oil Leak on new car
Post by: tokyo_black on September 05, 2006, 08:56:17 AM
Hey all.

I bought a rx7 from a member on this forum on sunday and its been super fun :Laugh  but.... on day three of rx7 ownership and I seem to have an oil leak!

The car is a 92, rebuilt, single turbo and I spotted two, inch circular patches of oil on the drive last night.

I checked under the car briefly this morning and the bottom of the sump (?) looks wet possibly from oil but I will need to have a proper check.

Do you guys have any thoughts on what part I should pay special attention to for checking for leaks, or just any advice on this.

Thanks guys

Hi Mate - Hows your luck :(

Did you top up with oil like i said?  I ask as sometimes if you get a drop or two that miss these may drip down after the engine has been hot.

Reworx performed a sump seal and replaced the oil return from the turbo as they were both leaking.  Both were dry as a bone when the work was done but its worth checking, if either are leaking again then i am sure they would take a look as the work was only done just before rotorstock.

Let me know if you want me to pop over to take a look.

No worries mate, don\'t like seeing problems this early on!

I did just check my drive where the car was last week and there is no sign of oil so it looks like it has only just started.

As i said if you want me to take a look before it goes up on the ramp give us a buzz.
