Hi Guy\'s & Gal\'s
Wondering if someone has the knowledge here. My car has bagan to squeek and it\'s getting louder, which is rather annoying! :o
First thought it was the belt\'s so up came the hood and I found there is no apparant noise coming from there. Instead it seems to sound louder just by the bellhousing above the tubbies.
I have tried to record a sound bite but every time I try it shut\'s up  It is totally quiet on a smooth road but as soon as I hit a bump it squeeks for a few second\'s which just confuses me (well it is easy :D)
Anyone know what this could be or had something similar happen?
A very common squeek comes from the FD rear hatch this is normaly resolved by fitting some spacers under the rubber stops so that the hatch stops rubbing, a squeek from around the bell housing I cant think of anything in that area.
I agree with John, I hunted and hunted round for the squeeking mine made, tightened up the boot connector and it has disappeared.
Drove me mad lol
john, do u mean sticking the spacers to the boot hatch? rubber ones? my fd squeaks at the rear something chronic. its so annoying.
gmogle did u tighten the hinge by the roof?
Didn\'t know that about the hatch, good info. I will check it but it sounds like something mechanical, like a dry bearing - I have no idea
I will have to try and get it recorded, have to get a mate to do it while im moving along :)

Nah mate, the boot catch mechanism, where the boot catch goes into.
If you look either side at the bottom of the opening with the hatch open there are 2 rubber stoppers, I removed these and fitted some spacer washers [about 1.5mm thick] that sorted my squeek, mind you once I had finnished modding you could not hear many squeeks at all:)
There are plates in the brake pads that are designed to sqeak with the pads are low, thats what my money is on. Basically a small plate with an elbow and as the pad gets low the elbow eventually touchs thw disc causing a squeal.
I had two totally different squeaks over the years which took me ages to track down, one turned out to be the front under bumper where it bolts to the body being just slightly loose on a couple of bolts and the other was the Huge alloy heat shield that covers the back box.
The shield breaks away and squeaks, but you need to drop the back box down to check it properly
Cheer\'s for the responses guys - had lost the thread for a while :Hammer
I have played with the hatch and no difference there so that\'s off the list.
Would the brake one only be when you are using the brakes?
I also had a dodgy bush - that was replaced but again still have the squeeking.
I may have accidently have found out what the noise is - after I had fitted the bush, I took the car out to see if everything was ok ( what a difference 1 bush makes! :) When the car had warmed up I put my toe down in 2nd & 3rd did a U turn & then once more on the way back home. After that the squeeking had stopped. I even found some bumps and nothing!
So im thinking it\'s heat releated in the way metal\'s expand and stop the noise. So I also presume it\'s the exhaust - going to get it on the ramps when I can to see what I can see (including that heat shield)
Fingers crossed!
(oh I wont have access to one for a while so if you hear a squeeky car at Pod this weekend - it\'s mee! :King )
