is anyone running a T04e with something like 550 secondary injectors. biggish street port, flywheel etc
what sort of power is it?
what sort of lag?
whats it like on fuel consumption, shocking or ok?
cheers in advance need quick answer
sam
If your not looking for big numbers the TO4E is a sweet little turbo. I had one that was pushing 365 at hugs, next to no lag, petrol was not bad.
You\'l need all 850cc injectors minimum...550cc wont do...
On my old Fd which was running a t04E it had 550\'s on primaries and 1300 on secondaries and it just about coped....so 550\'s on the secondaries is a no no... even in standard form they have 850\'s
As for the turbo....it\'s great, don\'t know why they are not more popular. Lag ain\'t bad on these and good power can be had, Fuel wise, depends on how you drive it, thrash it all day and it\'s poor but drive it off boost and only floor it when you need too, then not too bad figures can be acheived.
Cheers

If you will be looking for more power in the future then either get the 1300 secondaries or the 1600\'s with moded rail as will save more hassle in the future.
I would deffo say 550\'s are too small.

I know someone who is running a TO4E based turbo. This is rated to 550 bhp maximum, so it’s a good unit for response. There’s no point in getting a much larger turbo, as it’ll give only a marginal increase in power at expense of much more turbo lag. Standard turbos give boost (Sequentially) at around 2,300 rpm â€" this one gives boost from 3,300, which is still very responsive.
The T04E he has is a turbo from Knight Sports, built in house (using their 480SS kit). It uses special bearings that essentially have the shaft suspended in position from oil jets only â€" with solid bearings to suspend when the engine’s switched off. There are no bearings in contact with the shaft during normal use… Quite clever stuff!
Engine has a solid power curve that doesn’t tail off at higher rpm, so the turbo’s well suited to the application.
i have a Garrett T04E thats not long been bebuilt not the most powerful thing in the world but great street turbo, as said above there is next to no lag i\'m getting mine mapped again in a few weeks but with 850 injectors all round, trust three row FMIC etc etc they rekkon well see 320-340bhp depending on boost but the dyno will be the real teller.
If i recall i think it was gary that had about 360 or 370 with a T04E which isn\'t bad for a baby single turbo
spools pretty dam quick too
cheers for the replies guys, my engine is being rebuilt and i have been offered a complete fresh rebuilt engine with a t04e etc as said above. i was originally going for a GT35/40 if i went single, which i am still thinking i might do.
but its been very helpful any more info would be most welcome as i havent made up my mind yet.
how about a GT40, they are much cheaper than the GT35R\'s and on mine it produces good figures (380bhp at 1 bar). When i had my car mapped there was another rx7 with a GT35R being mapped too at reworx and he made about 350 at 1bar so the GT40 cant be that bad. Its the normal bearing type too so much cheaper. When i get the car remapped im gonna see about upping the boost too as there seems to be loads of 7\'s in the US with this turbo pushing 20+psi.
