Title: My New Red Rex
Post by: Merbals on August 30, 2006, 09:26:52 PM
First of all I want to say hello guys and hopefully I will be seeing and chatting to you guys alot in the future.

After a lot of thought I finally went ahead and brought a RX7 its taken me a while as I had to make my mind up between a Skyline and Rex but the RX7 won.

Anyway.....here she is just before she gets loaded onto the boat and your thoughts would be greatly appreciated as I am totally new to the Rx7 and will be counting on you guys for alot of sound advice.

Anyway heres a couple of pics.  Already itching to get the cheque book out as I would really like a new front and rear end so what would you recommend?

Where am I best to start with modifications?

Any Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Guys

Hi and welcome to the forum mate.
Like to see that you picked the fastest colour !!!:Thumbsup!
Tasty looking rims and I also like the drivers seat:Thumbs-up
First mods would defo be some new tyres, if its coming over from Japan (think I read it right!) Then a mappable ecu (apexi is favoured) to run it safely on British fuel. Then sit back and enjoy the drive, although probably missed this summer.:2Rolleyes Bloody weather !!!!

Hello and a Warm welcome to the Rotary community :Thumbs-up

I see you are already asking about mods on the good looking car you have just brought and would advise two things,

First take advantage of the Search button facility as there is an awful lot of good information on how to modify your car wisely and Second, there is no such thing as a Dumb question on MRC :) .

Have fun out there

Welcome to MRC matey,

Deffo get some decent tyres on when it lands dont want the trip to be over before it begins, once here advisable to get it mapped for UK fuel and get a general feel for how it is running, after that get the service done and all is good.

Gurj :Thumbs-up

Yes its just a shame I missed the summer but hey gives me all winter to get ready for the good weather again (well if we ever have some!).

At least now I have six weeks to learn as much as I can about the Rex and planning what to do next with her once shes fully road worthy and ship shape.  Cheers for the info on tires guys its my 1st Jap import so will deffo get them changed. What do you guys recommend?  On my Scooby I put on Toyo T1R\'s which were the dogs nuts any preferences on the Rex\'s??

Yeah it will be around six weeks before she lands (the longest six weeks of my life).  Just hope the boat don\'t sink!

To be honest I am really happy with her except that I really wanted a 4 seater so my wife and son could come for a ride but it has a full roll cage in it so the rear seat rests have been removed.  Oh well at least this way I can only taken my son out and will have to leave the wife at home...Oh what a shame ...lol.

I will see when she gets here whether I like the full cage or not...If not I guess I will just have to remove it and sort out the rear seats....not!!

:Thumbs-up

If you\'re looking at replacing the nose and tail I think C-West is the way to go, not cheap though.

fine looking rex there Merbals, i had mine for two years before i started modifying, best advice i could give is keep it serviced and clean then decide which direction you want to go (and how much you want to spend! LOL)
