Title: Electrical Gremlins
Post by: Mave on August 30, 2006, 08:04:53 PM
OK, anyone got any ideas? I thought I had a problem with my alarm, now I think I\'ve actually got a separate problem causing the battery to discharge.

When I parked the car up today (after recharging the battery overnight, and using the emergency code to bypass the immobiliser) I noticed that the heated rear window light stayed on even though the ignition was off. The switch had no effect on it. When I returned to the car this evening it was totally dead, although I noticed that the interior lights were glowing dimly. When I pressed the switch for them, they just switched to a brighter level, ie I couldn\'t turn them off.

Any ideas? I\'ve had a look through the wiring diagram and there\'s nothing I can see that could cause this kind of fault, although the wiring manual is for a 94 and mine\'s a 93.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

If its the lift up tailgate, the wires will be rubbing together inside the loom

Thanks for the input.
I managed to trace the fault, turns out water got into the boot during a thunderstorm a few weeks ago, and a multiplug in the boot got wet, causing the heated rear window to come on intermittently. Cut out the multiplu, soldered and sleeved the cables, and it\'s good now :)
