Hi all
I\'ve found this rx7 but I dont know if itf worth me purchasing it. How much would you say I should pay for it I\'m not in a rush to start driving it so I have the time to rebuild it please give your opinion heres the detail:
NEEDS ENGINE REBUILD.
If that hasn\'t put you off here we have for sale my Mazda RX7 Efini twin turbo.
Unfortunately it needs an engine rebuild. I believe the water seals have gone in the engine. After doing some research on the internet it seems to be displaying classic symptoms, coolant alarm buzzing, losing water, white smoke on startup until warm. This diagnosis is not proved however this is purely my own opinion.
I brought the car off eBay earlier this year and wish I had done the research before! The car was already producing the white smoke then but was I was told this was normal. I did get to drive it about for 3-4 months before I decided it would be best to park it up and start to save for an engine rebuild. It has now been stood for 4-5 months and changing circumstances have forced a very reluctant sale.
When the car was on the road it was a very good drive, smooth, fast absolutely no problems. This is why it was so difficult to accept there was anything wrong with the car! Until the add coolant alarm started.
I believe the car is a Type R model but I have no proof (it was sold to me as being one). It has nice 17" alloys although some curbing (not done by me) and good tread on all the tyres, it does have a slow puncture on the drivers side rear but it holds for about a week before needing inflating again. The body is in good condition for the age, a couple of small touch up marks the most noticable I only notice this week and have photographed on the front wing, there is also an area above the bumper which appears to be a burn mark to the paint above the exhaust (brought like it). I have had trouble starting the car towards the end of using it but assumed it was all due to the engine problem. I have fitted a nice big exhaust (back box) which gives a great sound and definitely looks the business, other than this I think the cars standard.
Since being stood I have washed the car every week (I love this car) and have run the engine til warm at least once a fortnight, usually more. The car has ony been moved to the end of the drive and back as it no longer has tax or MOT. I dont know if any work will be needed for this but there is definitely nothing obvious.
depends on body condition, age of car, etc etc.
I would say a good body\'d car on a K/L plate with a shot engine should be £2500-£3000, if the alloys are good (and branded e.g. Volk, Work, etc) maybe a bit more. Without seeing the pics it is hard to say
yeah 2.5K if its mostly standard
I was thinkin more £1500 range to be honest as winter is coming prices of rear wheel powerful car are dropping at an acellarated rate
If you think you can get it for £1500 then go for it, would be a total bargain! Work it out backwards, it will cost about £2500 for a rebuild (allow £3k incas it needs other bits) so £1500+£3000 means you have a nice rebuilt car for under £5k if I were selling, I wouldn\'t be prepared to let it go for that, but sounds like it might be a desperate seller so worth a punt!
I just heard from the guy and he\'s lookin for £3000 really I\'m not prepared to pay that for a car I cant even move if I paid that it would work out to around £7000 just to put the car on the road?!?!?(http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1993-MAZDA-RX7-Efini-Twin-Turbo_W0QQitemZ110026716526QQihZ001QQcategoryZ18211QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
