Post by: travellinbob on August 28, 2006, 07:48:56 PM
Hi all, I kinda understand the basic principles of how an injector works but am very curious as to know what the difference between a vertical injector and a horizontal one is???   If the two differetn types were ever mixed up what would happen????
Oh and does anyone know what standard subaru impreza sti injectors are? as in, horizontal or vertical??
 cheers, michael.

It comes down to how they have designed the fuel feed system. I.E. The fuel rails.

Some cars have space above for feeding from the top, where as like the Subaru\'s they are side fed.

Uhmmm, i dont have an FD or an fc etc. So the  \'it doesnt fit \' doesnt really apply to me. It is for a custom injection set up I am trying to figure out for my 12a.
 cheers anyhow, michael.

When you say horizontal and vertical injectors, do you mean side-feed and top-feed? Side-feed injectors won\'t fit in a top-feed fuel rail and vice versa. The injectors themselves you can configure how you like (provided you can get the fuel rail in there), they\'re just solenoid valves.
