Title: suspension ideas...
Post by: alban1973 on August 27, 2006, 02:22:35 PM
Seeing aas I have now done nearly 4000 miles in the old thing, it is time for the next stage of work. I am going to replace all the 24 year old looking bushes with poly bushes.   the shockers are all about knacked. I will be thinking about changing the springs as well. what have poeple used on their gen1\'s and to what advantages. dont really want to lower it too much or even at all or I will not get it up my drive. I will be keeping the standard 13 inch wheels with the 205 tyres.

I\'ve got koni\'s & standard (I think) springs.  Handles great, but rattles teeth!

I\'ve got Koni\'s on the front as well. Tim at Rx motors can get hold of a set for you, I was told they are \'off-car\' adjustable. Still on the standard Tokicos at the rear.

Racing Beat do some good springs for the first gen. I think they lower the car by 1 inch. They also do some race springs with a deadwound section which can be cut to provide the required ride height.

Has anyone fitted coilovers?

I\'m looking into getting some new springs and possibly polybushes so let me know if you or any other members are interested in a group buy. This seems to be the best way to go for US imported stuff due to the ridiculous import duties.

Superflex do uprated bushes, I have used these in many cars and are good. I also get a good discount on them..http://www.superflex.co.uk/SuperFlex_Mazda_RX7,_MKI_&_II_Prices.pdf

Thanks for the info on the shockers..

cheapest way is to convert to coilovers using the universal tube type kits, then you have a choice of springs at low cost. Thats the plan for mine anyway.  I\'m sure theres a way to convert the rears to use 2.25" springs too (it\'d become apparent when sat looking at the car with the parts in hand I\'m sure)
