Title: Best effect: Water Injection or CO2 kits ?
Post by: Devil\'s Refugee on August 22, 2006, 12:40:11 PM
Reading up on Aquamist and CryO2 kits, and undecided as to which is the better type to run for a street car.

I have an Apexi FC and GReddy 3 row SMIC, so the Aquamist kit can interface with the Apexi directly ( and the gauge for the S2e kit looks nice ;) ) but the CryO2 kit would suit lowering both the SMIC and Rad.

Anyone help an old man decide, or experiences of running either

Running with stock twins at the moment, but considering changing this setup later down the line, so would like something which won\'t be defunct when I decide to change :Thumbs-up

Actually, just been browsing the Nimbus Motorsport website.
Has anyone wrapped their turbo with a thermal material to minimise heat in the engine bay ?

i have, but then days after someone else said it was a bad idea. All it does is contain the heat within the turbo which is only a bad thing. Anyone else care to comment on this as ive seen loads of turbos, manifolds and downpipes wrapped in heat protection bands.

They are wrapped so the turbo spools quicker and the heat doesnt escape into the engine bay and heat soaks everything, your turbo/s will be safe so long as you have a good oil feed to them.

Go for WI !! gives you extra safty margin lowers charge temps and pontential for extra power

Essentially then it\'s sounds like a good idea.
But then, looking at all the thermal/ heatshield wrapping you can buy, you could easily turn a polished engine bay into duct-tape heaven :D
I\'ve got polished alloy induction pipes, so looks like I might buy a couple of heatshield jackets for those, or at the least wrap them in shield tape.

I\'ve got a vented bonnet so I\'m hoping this will help a lot also.
