Title: Does this seem correct?
Post by: goldk28611 on August 21, 2006, 02:57:00 PM
I\'m 24, (4mths ago) and have 4 years NCB - have 3 points on my Licence that is from 1 year ago.
I\'m currently paying £600 on a golf GTi-Turbo, all mods declaired and is running around 175BHP which is what i have told my insurance.
I am looking to get a \'96 Rex that is slightly modded (RR @ 300BHP) - FMIC, exhaust, Air filter + a few others, but they are quoting me 2K+!!
does this seem a little too high? or is it because i\'m changing cars and they know they can stitch me easly?

any ideas...this seems to me to be a little too much, as a mate of mine is running a 300+BHP Supra all mods declaired and has 3 points and worte off his other Supra 3 Mths ago and he is only 22 and now only got 2 yeras NCB.... but paying just under 2k!!

I\'ve seen people quoted between £400 - £4000 depending on the company etc.

Problem with a 96 car is it can\'t be insured as a modern classic just yet so you can\'t go that route, I would guess you could get as little as £1200 if you try, take a look at some of the companies others are using and give them a go.

One reason insurance on the Rex is high is because most of them are foreign imports.....If you can find one of the (rare) UK ones then insurance will be cheaper.

But you can go with restricted mileage - I have 5000 a year on my 98.

I\'ve got a 96 car insured as a classic with A-Plan.  I think it\'s over 10 years and they\'ll do classic.
