Title: Clive is correct!!Money Well Spent
Post by: rmagictastic on August 21, 2006, 10:01:00 AM
Now... as some of you may know, i have spent alot of money on shiney bits and engines and alike.

when i first joined one of the first posts i read was by some fella called Clive (hehehe) saying \' getting your wheels laser aligned is the best money you will spend\'

i decided to ignore this for 2 years.....until Saturday..

i gave the garage my FD and a completely different one came back.. what a massive improvement.

i had new track rod ends put on while it was there..all of the bumpsteer and crap ride has gone and the car feels really tight and straight.

Do it.. you wont regret it!!

Had it laser aligned at Elite Motorsport in Essex.

Going to be getting mine done soon.

Got a bush on order to fit first, then will need 2 tyres.

Im having a comp with my mate to see which one of us has the worst setup! :Hammer   Mine hasnt been done for about 18 months, and has since had 1 bush done and coilovers fitted.  Pip described the handling as EVIL! :evillaugh

unfortunately not mate, plus they fitted my new TRE\'s, so it would have been no good. all i Can say that is that when you hit and sort of bump in the road, it was a guess at which direction you would go.... usually toward the nearest hedge lol.

To everyone reading this thread, I\'m talking about proper 4w alignment, not just laser alignment.

It involves this, they oik the car up and put some wierd discs on all the wheels, they also set your toe, caster and camber.  Well worth it :)

(just on a rex) :)

The only trouble with laser aligning is that if your rear wheels are off/out then they offset the front, so you end up with wheels like:

or

\\   \\

The guy said to me at the place I went "I bet it makes good right turns" :)

I\'ll have a look for the printout and put it up, the place I used is:

Friendly guys and great service :Thumbs-up

sorry, yes that is what they used on mine, they atach these satalite (sp) things to the wheels, so all four wheels are pinting forward (straight), but no camber.

and yes i know that there should be a bit of toe in on the front..lol

Ramj - ah well, maybe I should find something more constructive to do :Laugh

Is that the same thing they do at powerstation?

I think the chap on here with the pearl white (Mark?) FD had those things on the wheels too.

IIRC it can also tell you if your wheel is not quite true?
