Title: Big Grin Factor
Post by: cannonballer on August 19, 2006, 06:14:41 PM
Thank god for little Japanese people.
If it was\'nt for  them we would\'nt have any Jap cars.
Took the FD on its 1st track day today, wow what fun. I\'m a bit of a track day junkie anyway but allways done it in me 205 which is a brilliant track tool but very functional and does\'nt like sliding to much. I was quite nervous to start with as gravel traps are\'nt very veilside freindly so I set off fairly steady to find out the capabilitys of these things, didnt take long before the arse end is hanging out every where possible. wot a buzz, even gave me a bit of a touch on at one point (sad I know). got to the point where every time I jumped back in the car a whole crowd of random spectators came to watch me, which was also a buzzzz.
So I\'m going out tonight with a big grin on me face.

Is there anywhere local to us  to take the FD that you trust and do what they say there gonna do. Bit cheesed at the mo cus spent 460 quid on a remap last week with someone who said they knew what they are doing and when confronted with a problem they just recomended to start swapping random parts rather than checking for faults and we all know how expensive that can get.

Derby to Middlewich int that far, Pip is one of the few Realy clued up Rx7 guys about. It\'s worth the Trip.

You know it makes sence. Pips your man, he is usaly very bussy but its worth getting him to have a look. (some advice if you want to talk to Pip ring later on or ask for him to ring you back)

Deffo worth the trip but WGT are also possibly the most expensive guys to go to, but then again you pay for what you get so it kinda evens itself out.

The way i see it now is if you have a rotary based problem then yes go to WGT anything else towards maintainence go somewhere closer who are good with cars.

For mapping go to WGT and Pip does a very safe map so not to put the engine in any danger :Giggle

We went up to Blyton, which in hindsight was a bit of a mistake, its an old airfield so completly flat and full of potholes and bombholes but it only costs 40 quid for the day, usually I would go to donnington but I wanted to be certain of the FD\'s ability before I went and made a complete arse of meself. The car is now booked in at WGT on the 5th of sept so not doing another trackday till its sorted.According to my fixtures list the next one at donnington is on the 1st of oct.

I have heard similar reports about Blyton.  Would love to do Donnington, but I may be doing Croft (N Yorks) on 1st Oct through http://www.javelin-motorsport.co.uk/trackdays/trackdays.html
