whats everyone`s views on fitting either a performance panel filter or a full on induction kit?
and which ones best?
K&N panels are good replacements,

with stock airbox you get cold air, most aftermarket use the warm air from your engine bay.
Dedicated cold air feeds are good

HKS has an after market jobby

so do these cars work ok with geting hot air or is it like the piston engine and work best with cold air?
not wanting to spend money on one thing and find out i should have bought another(like i always do)
Yeah same principle applies cold air is more dense and therfore better:Thumbs-up
I am working on getting a heat sheild made for my after market filter and then a cold air feed but a good panel filter would probably be the better option they just don\'t look as good.
If you do a search on here for heat shield it should give some examples of what others have done. Thats what I did and so am making one out of sheet metal.
I found the most important part was not necessarilly the heat shield, although it helps obviously, but getting a feed of cold air to the filters.
If you put an induction kit in, you lose the pipe which feeds the air. I knocked up a perspex baffle to direct the cold air into the filters and this with the home made heat shield I knocked up worked well. Got intake temps of a steady 35 deg C when cruising on the commander.
Basically you need both. A heat shield on its own won\'t give huge benefits (couple of degrees down, maybe)
Another benefit is that after giving it a booting the intake temps fall MUCH quicker that without a heat shield.
It also seems to be making the water temps 1 or 2 degrees cooler. Could just be cooler weather though I guess, but I don\'t remember it being like that before I fitted the heatshield.
Ooooooooooh my 100th post!!!
Any pics of your heat shield and cold air feed for an example please:Thumbs-up

Yeah on this thread. Bear in mind that this thread was dedicated in particular to the Apexi Induction
Tried Apexi\'s myself, but prefer this as no problems with hot air, but still a huge performance filter inside,
speak to spec-r they made me a custom cold air box works really well see pics on another thread titile spec-r
