just found out this is THROUGH HIGHWAY!!! s**t the bed what to do? ive declared al mods but it looks there money grabbing s**ts by the other thread!
I believe there is a standard 14 days cancellation period with insurance contracts.
Give them a call.
I\'m in the same boat at the moment. Just found a really good quote, through a broker, but it is with Highway. Would love to not use them because of what has happened with "Blitzboy", but what I\'m struggling with is 1) it is significantly better than any other quote I have found 2) is any other insurance company going to be any different at all - i.e. we all have the opinion that they will always try to find a way out of paying. If the quote were £20 better, then I\'d ignore it, but at £200+ better, it is something I am finding hard to justify ignoring.
It might be worth asking them to clarify the mains point of concern that we all have.... (ie, not paying out for damage as a consequence of fire).... This would probably raise the profile of the case within Highway too. If it starts effecting renewals and new business ($$$) they\'re more likely to pay attention to people\'s concerns.
Remember, there *must* be a reason why they\'re prepared to offer WAY cheaper cover (or lack thereof).
Alex.
I wouldn\'t use highway under any circumstances.
I\'ve just renewed mine and I\'m 25 with no points (1 old claim for theft). All my modifications declared and I live in an "F" post code area. Did get a quote of £700ish but choose to go with a reputable company...
£926 FC
and nothing to do with highway.

Interesting one - I was put through to Highway directly via another "call center". Basically they wouldn\'t insure the car \'cso they couldn\'t find the exact model on thier list. Eventually they said it would be in the order of double my renewal! So called the broker back up to ask why they would insure me and why it was 900quid cheaper via the broker!! Their reply was that insurers don\'t like the hassle of dealing with the public directly, and they offer significant reductions to brokers - different brokers get different reductions. I did question it a 2nd time, and the guy was adament that they will stand by the quotation.
To be honest, I will probably stick with the current brokers (A-Plan), although the insurance policy is with a little known company called MarkerStudy. Only been going for about 5 years according to their web site! (Was reading through their policy details, and they read very similar to Highway\'s, to be honest. I just wonder whether all policys are worded the same, and it is down to the engineer who is assessing the car to make the call.)
I know it\'s difficult when you have to shell out for the renewal, but if the policy isn\'t worth the paper it\'s written on due to being underwritten by some cowboy outfit like Highway what\'s the point? I for one would much rather pay a bit more but have the confidence my insurer would act at least something like the way they should...
Cheers
Alex
WOW THIS IS A REALLY TECHNICAL RELATED THREAD!!!!!
Fish
Easy...
I\'m sure the mods will move it sooner or later.
Why pay anything at all if its no good? Cryptic, I know, but theres sense in there somewhere!
