Title: Xado atomic mineral oil
Post by: JiM B on August 16, 2006, 10:08:01 AM
In an attempt to try and comply with Mazda\'s original specification for oil (10W-30 mineral) I have been doing some searching and come across an oil made by a company called Xado.

I know the oil debate is unresolved as to what we should be using in a rotary engine (and I’m not in any way trying to answer that question in this thread), but the general consensus seems to be towards use mineral.

http://www.xado.co.uk/xado_uk_atomic_mineral_engine_oil_10W30_SLCF.htm (http://www.xado.co.uk/xado_uk_atomic_mineral_engine_oil_10W30_SLCF.htm)

Has anyone had any experience with Xado oil, and what do you think? Their claims seem to be a bit science fiction to me. They claim to be able to increase the compression ratio and they also claim to be able to increase bhp which they have apparently proven with a road test!

I\'ve contacted the company to ask if they have had any experience with rotary engines, but will have to wait and see what they say.

Page referenced doesn\'t mention rotary engines at all nor how the oil could improve compression beyond that of any other oil.

Claims more in line with snake-oil imo.

It makes these claims in the Frequently asked question section, sorry if I didn\'t make this clear before.
