Title: Leak inside boot lid.
Post by: robedwards99 on August 11, 2006, 11:32:20 AM
When I open the boot after a bit of rain I get water dripping, or sometimes pouring, from where the left hand strut attaches to the boot lid. Note: this is not the normal water pouring over the sides of the lid and into the boot!

I suspect it may be where a bodyshop fitted a freshly sprayed spoiler and didn\'t seal around the holes, but this is purely a guess.

Anyone else experienced a similar leak who can offer any advice??

it will be a bad boot rubber and the fact your rear windscreen is not bonded in correctly

mine is the same

It\'ll be the spoiler or the rear wiper, I got rid of my wiper as this was the source of my leak :(

Yep, I took off my standard spoiler and fitted a mazdaspeed one but didnt fill in the 2 middle bolt holes properly (just covered it with gaffer tape! :( ) and now water gets in and pools inside the plastic bootlid trim. When I open the boot it all pours out and into the car.

I had the same problem, the GT style wing wasn\'t sealed up properly.
A good way to find out where water is getting in, is to pour a little water over where you think the leak is. Then lift the boot lid and see if any water trickles down from the strut.

Then just do a quick test by sealing up the leaky area with a bit of tape and do the above again. You\'ll soon find out where the water is coming in.

Hope that makes some sort of sense.

Thanks for the replies.. I think I\'ll have to whip the spoiler off when I have a bit of time and whack some silicon sealant around the holes or something.

I am pretty sure it will be coming in from the spoiler as it wasn\'t there before.
