Title: Seriously considering group buy FMIC look here
Post by: strange_days_uk on August 07, 2006, 05:55:44 PM
I\'m sure we\'ve all had a browse of this kit here

clicky (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8049607864&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1)

Core size 600x300x76

I mailed them a while ago about doing a group buy, he said if I can get 10 bought then they will do the kits for £299 each, which seems pretty good to me.

Now compare this to the trust/greddy kit 600x280x76 core size, almost identical.

THINGS TO DO:

1 - Need to know if anyone is (seriously) interested.

2 - Compile a list of questions before deciding whether to go ahead

- What is the pressure drop?
- Do they produce them in-house, if not who makes them?

(others that people come up with)

3 - Decide on appropriate course of action, my initital idea is that I will buy a kit as tester, get it installed by RE:Worx (I will be going down there soon), and report back on it\'s ease of install, build quality and efficiency etc...

I am open to all considered debate on this topic, but I see this possibly as a good opportunity to save some money, as these kits are monstrously expensive.

The only other "half decent looking" ones I have found are as follows:

1 here (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8075737300&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1)

and here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=230016101848&ih=013&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT)

here also (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&item=180015110975&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1)

this finally (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8071229320&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1)

Well ??

Firstly I wouldnt trust this kit. I would look at trying to find someone who has already bought and fitted one as he sells the exact same kit for Skylines, Imprezas etc etc with same piping aswell. When these first came onto ebay I emailed them and the reply was we\'ve never fitted one of these kits to an RX7 personally.... That answered everything else I wanted to know about it tbh....

Seems very cheap though. good luck with it.

Amber Performance do a universal FMIC with a 600 x 300 x 100 core for £230 inc VAT (obviously this is without piping, but as I have an FC and there are hardly any kits for the FC anyway I\'m going for one of them

100 deep seems a little big, that could hamper airflow to the rad.

I think 76 would be the biggest sensible depth, that is that the GReddy one is set to..

I\'m probably going to V-mount it for that reason.

They do a 76 as well for £115

Yeah I emailed them they said it was an unbranded kit, but it looks pretty good all the same.  Problem is, you have to think about things like pressure drop, surface area, how much air gets to the rad etc..

Greddy is bringing there new TypeM core to the market for very cheap prices. You can get  a complete kit for as little as 540 GBP with shipment and custms allready payed. Why go for Ebay unknown route?

Also on the ebay there is a D-Tech I/C for sale at the moment for as little as 300 GBP buy it now + shipment + customs resulting in the same 500GBP range. This I/C is a HKS copy.....
