My brother owns a company called Carbon Tek in Caterham they mainly do bies but I\'m going to be getting a set made soon full carbon ,none of this fake stuff, door cards made i\'m putting the question out there to see if anyone else is interested? I\'m not sure on price my brother is getting back to me on it but he rekkons around 15-20 people will see a reasonable price as new moulds etc would need to be made so the more the cheaper all

right to answer a couple of questions, the price i will find out a week on saturday so i will keep you posted on that front...
Pics well there wont be any until they are made, they are FULL wet carbon copies of the STD RX7 FD door cards, they will be suitable to take the std plastic bits like wing mirror button windows etc so they will look the same but be in carbon fibre.
As far as other bits go we\'ll do one thing at a time but i am looking into doing the centre bits and pecies too.
well if the price is right i will be up for a few carbon bits.

You can get different colour carbon fibre, it\'s done using a coloured fibre in the weave. The yellow looks like carbon kevlar...mmmmm we like that.

RIGHTY TIME to see who really wants these ..... they will be 350-400 a pair.... finished in wet carbon.
Thats expensive you say well not at all IMO not because i have 400 to spare but because i\'m aware of everything involved to get them finished in the best quaility and also the amount of carbon that needed to create two door cards of this size. And also the scarsness of carbon at the moment...
(also there is much less cabon used in the feed side skirts and there 500!!!)
With regards to coloured carbon..... its not actually carbon they use to do this is a hybrid material and the colour is added at the weaving stage also you can double the cost of materials....
So £400 is the price who still wants?
Still interested, do you have a timescale, is this going to be cash with order / deposit. I can see a number of orders in this but my concerns are a] quality of finish and fit
for that sort of money for doorcards I would hope the would fit themselves!!

your right they will be a simplfied vertion of the existing door panel, when they are mostly blanked as you said. all the orignal handles etc pockets will remain unless there is a demand for them not too? or i can ask for two different types.
With regards to speakers they will be blank when produced but as most (i would think) i\'m cutting they grills in so the factory speaker grills can be used. i\'m happy to do anyone elses aswell cause i enjoy to that kind of stufff :D
what about the passenger door handle...will it be a new one or will the exsisting one have to be used?
the existing one will be used, the mould would be very complex in order to in corperate it. Also if people have colour coded ones to match the rest of their interior it means that you can keep

With regards to the CAD image unfortunalty it does not work like that with things like this. The mould is taken of the origianl panel then depending on how complexit is its simplifed once its in the moulders hands however they are aware that it must maintain a factory look.
My upmost apologies for the lack of being able to provide pics etc but i can tell you these guys do superbike farings, bikes tanks etc etc for a lot of the big boys in the racing circle so they do know there stuff and they are very very capible
if their happy to do a version without the pocket then let me know. if it\'s to much hassle then i will still have set with the pocket- its just that the door pockets are pretty useless and easily get broken or cracked in my opinion and it would look nicer with out it

I think given the many questions over quality, it would be good if you could get your mate to produce your set first, then post up some pics of the finish for everyone to see prior to commitment.
If the finish is good, and they fit well, then I am still up for a pair at the asking price.

Same here, still interested. I live local to Caterham and could easily pop down to see the finished product.

This may take a couple of weeks so you will have to bare with me on that front until they are finished but i will keep you all updated.
With regards to colouring i will gt more info for you on what material it is thats used etc how much it will cost and so on when i next see him.

I looked into these awhile back but never heard back from the guy in Japan. I must say that £400 for a set in real CF is a steal!! Heres a pic of the ones I was after, I\'m not sure if it used the original passenger handle or not but it gives you an idea of how good these will look!!!:InLove

thew will look similar to the ones in the pic only the handle will be the stock item. With regards to the pockets n handles etc i a possibility for the future but i certainly don\'t have the money at the momnet to get all these moulds made as its the most expensive bit.

The ones in the pic I put up were £500 each before shipping from Japan! I have tried to get back in touch with them but their website no longer exisits! So I fear they didn\'t dell enough at that price to stay afloat. I think if the new ones your making this good it\'d be a bargin!!

I think you should get the doors made up as one piece and you only need slot the vents and switches into them, you would then avoid fiddly areas like the door lids etc.. plus save on the weight of the screws and bits of plastic that would cheapen the look of the carbon. It\'d be far more robust this way especially that bl00dy passenger door handle! I\'d have thought this would make them easier to make, and yoou\'d get alot of interest if you could knock a pair out at 350-400.

I can\'t wait to have my door cards replaced, my bat-mobile really really needs it!
