I\'ve got a Jasma exhaust. Doesn\'t make any strange noises though

It is like a bit of a sucking/slurping/scrapping noise..only on slow speed pulling away.... that funny enough....

At first I thought it might be the clutch but it sounds like it is coming from the exhaust...

Any ideas ??

Slight Scraping Noise - Got a metalic clutch ? might be that

Rattles etc - loose exhaust

Can\'t think of any other noise that would do that from the exhaust area

Just for reference, JASMA isnt the make; its the Jap approved standard for sound/emissions/etc.

So you could have one of thousands of catbacks available on your car. Most arent lableed at all, those that are are usually on the top on the silencer i.e. where you cant see it whilst its on the car.

Cant think what the sounds might be; best pop it down to some with experience and a ramp...

Not sure what clutch is on the car ... It seems like a racing clutch of sorts... i.e. like an on/off switch

Yeah I used to get it coming into work in the P1, saying the same thing. Only bought the Rx in once so far - think they are too scared to say anything just from the sound of it. :D

Nah dont need to change yer name it\'s much more fun confusing people & showing yer heriatge of course (http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/smilie/scoobsmile4.gif) lol
Some twin/triple cutches do make clunking noises but as above take it to some1 who knows what they\'re on about is most cunning......

Mines got a paddle clutch and sometimes makes a noise pulling off but it\'s def not the exhaust doing it.

Jay, I have had my FD about a year and a half now. And finding the limit is still so much fun.

I need/want to do a couple of trackdays to properly/safely find the limits. Donington will be getting a visit as soon as the modifications are fitted. :D

Hi, are you sure its not the air pump making the noise through the intakes, mine made a orrible noise when i put a filter kit on, was fine with the standard air box though. Try disconnecting it and drive round the block for a test.

Post by: Andy T on November 11, 2003, 06:10:56 PM
did the noise from the airpump happen all the time or just when pulling away ?
Title: JASMA Powerflow Exhaust
Post by: jetpilot on November 11, 2003, 06:17:21 PM
From memory it was pulling away and cruising speed at around 2500 rpm, best to just test it by disconnecting it for a test. On the top of the air pump you will see a wir which runs into an electrical connector, just pull apart for test purposes and then re connect after the test, you can even do it by just revving it up in the drive way, rev slowly and you will hear the noise if its connected, when unconnected it will probably disappear.  Let me no the result please.

It is the clutch not the air pump....
