Title: Wiper Switch Pin-out
Post by: Kerry on August 06, 2006, 06:25:01 PM
Good day everybody,

This is my first post to the technical forum so please excuse me if I get stuff wrong.:wave

I have the usual problems with my RX-7 Gen II wiper switch.
I have been through the re-soldering and the replacing of relays, I still have not been able to restore all of the wiper functions.

I have a spare (also not working) switch assembly thanks to to Tim of RX-Motors (thank you Tim).

I have an electronics background and I intend to redesign the switch circuit using easily obtainable components.

Assuming I am successful, I shall document the process and post it for others to use.

I am ready to start but I have found that the PDF manual I downloaded is for a LHD model and the pin-outs of the wiper switch plug in the manual do not match the pin-outs on my RHD switch assembly.

Does anybody have the wiring details for the plug that is fitted to the RHD wiper switch?

If push comes to shove, I shall resort to tracing the wires through the wiring loom to see where they go.

Thank you in advance.

Kerry (oh and I am a bloke btw) :WaveBye

Kerry, you might have tried this already, but I found one track on the PCB had burned out, and also one track inside the switch PCB itself - I was able to do a repair using a solder bridge and also a load of graphite from a pencil to restore the track. It was quite fiddly, but the end result is I have all the functions working now. :wiggle

If you open the switch up - do it under a sheet or something - as there is a tiny spring that will jump out and and lose itself.

I did trace out the pins - as I had the same problem you did, but like a complete numty I think I\'ve thrown them away. :( I did find it was quite similar to the pdf diagram pinout.

Hope this helps,

Prof.:cheers

Thanks for that Prof.

I\'ve managed to work out that the pin-out seems to be transposed left to right. First of all I thought that maybe I should have been looking back into the wiring loom rather than the plug but that didn\'t make sense as the keyway is incorrect.

Oh well, it looks as though I shall be buzzing out the wiring again. :Hammer

Best wishes,

Kerry
