Title: Finally - now the proud owner...
Post by: Dr Gonzo on November 09, 2003, 08:19:45 AM
Yes, finally, I have my Rex. Picked her up yesterday and oh-my-god!! Didn\'t realise just how fast these babies were. Being an R1 owner I\'ve always been pretty disappointed with cars - nothing compared to the ferocious acceleration of my bike and the exhilaration of cornering.... until now. Absolutely incredible. My one\'s come with some toys to play with which was a bonus. The main one is a boost controller - low/high and manual settings. Kept her on low for the 260 mile trip home but cranked it up last night. Phenomenal. 1st gear scares the c**p out of me! She\'s been lowered to the weeds with some very pretty 17 inch-ers and uprated suspension. I\'ll quite happily put up with feeling every goddam ripple in the road for the amazing cornering performance. I don\'t think I\'ve had to slow down for a corner yet! A few marks on the bodywork will be sorted in the next week or two and then I\'ll have to learn how to drive again I think....

Anyway, thanks to all of you who offered your sage advice over the past few weeks. You were all right - I wasn\'t disappointed. My grin goes from ear to ear!  I hope to meet with some of you soon at the rex get-togethers. Anyone near Bournemouth? If so, give me a shout and we\'ll go terrorise the local Saxo population.... heh heh....

Best wishes to all,

Richard

Richard, congratulations mate. Come on put some pictures up, we want to see what it looks like.

Only word of warning is when it rains, drive it VERY carefully. THEY BITE!!!!!

Best find a large empty area, away from the public and learn the limits.

Dan.. I should have listened... was chasing my mate in his XR-3i (in the wet)... put down a bit too much power coming out of a roundabout... back end WENT... tried correcting... fishtailed... dung\'d pants... span 360... wet myself.... stopped... heart having palpitations.... realised I hadn\'t hit anything.... big grin on my face.... Yaris for wet weather now...

hehe I did that when I first got mine. Had some Ztec focus on my bum, was driving nice n slow and he annoyed me so I floored it coming off a roundabout, went sideways all the way down the road and went side ways the other way...

as I was hoping it was warm apple pie in my work trousers... past comes mr ford in the 2nd lane with his thumbs up

I thought.. "I DIDN\'T DO THAT FOR Yo... oh yes I did, yes it was a show.. that\'s what it was.. a show yes, very good one too!" hehe

Get yaself a set of eagle f1\'s dude...the tyre of kings.. good in the wet i\'ve found too :)

woodn\'t bother saving buy em ASAP on a card or sumin i learnt that on the scoob that shyte rubber aint worth skimping over & suffice to say the scoob was more of a put foot to floor wotever weather car (ie for carp drivers (http://www.gamers-forums.com/smilies/ups/trixie/winksmile.gif)lol) but with poor rubber it prefered an additional 360 on roundabouts in the wet (http://smilies.crowd9.com/cwm/cwm/eek5.gif)
i\'m not guna drive my RX7 where possible till i\'ve killed jap rubber on a air strip & got me sum F1\'s on that bad boy!

Very nice, wheels look quite cool.

Nearly had a 360 moment myself last night, had a little race with my friend in his 200sx(new shape) bit to much power coming out of roundabout, i deliberatly dropped to second and floored it to get  some ass end out but got a little more than intended, managed to keep it facing the right way though.

doesnt help i have the wrong size tyres on mine, 205/50 16\'s  (how it was when i bought it)

It\'s worth the wait Craig - believe me! In fact, all in all, I\'ve waited 4 years to get mine! lol It all started way back in 1999 when I came to a set of traffic lights on my Kawasaki ZX-6R, just before a dual carriageway. A red sports car came up beside me, revving up a bit (the usual challenge). "here we go" I thought - always bored of cars who think they stand a chance against a bike. So, lights turn green and POW off I went. Red lined every gear just to leave the car dead in my zorst fumes. At approx 140mph I let off a bit and looked in my mirrors with a smug grin, checking on my foe. So, imagine my surprise when this car is sitting about 20 feet behind me, and closing! That was the first time THAT\'S ever happened! I was gob-smacked. So, at the next set of lights I made a point of noting what the hell this car was (the guy inside was grinning like a chesire cat). Well, it was a Mazda and the badge on the back said "RX-7". Never heard of one. The car looked awesome and the performance was stunning. I vowed then, if I was ever to get off two wheels into four then this would be the car. So, 2003 the opportunity arose and voila, here I am with my gorgeous silver FD and it\'s every bit as good as I imagined! Dying to go up against one of my pals on their bikes... heh heh

Be patient, you WON\'T be disappointed!

Just do it the same way you do in the normal messages.

eg put (IMG)imgurl(/IMG) into your sig but use square brackets and a real url.
