Post by: Eddie on August 01, 2006, 10:49:51 PM
hi I was wonderng if anyone can help please.
How should go about making sure the belt tension is correct
I have fitted a greedy pulley set with new belts and need to know what the tension should be and what tool I use to check them.

Thanks

Make sure you can easily twist the  middle of longest part of the belt through 90 degrees and you will be O/K, same for the power steering belt.

Hope this helps

Thanks for that Clive I shall give that a try.
From memory I am sure I can twist the belt a lot more, best get tightening.

Thanks

i had this problem after fitting a new belt myself.  got to germany on a ring trip, asked chris from re:works to check it, and his eyebrows raised and he said it was FAR too loose!  i was lucky...
